≮Physical Corner≯
Any junction of vertical surfaces belonging to inorganic objects or a small number of organic objects (with all three X, Y, and Z axis lengths ≥50 cm) was defined as a "physical corner."
Any corner lacking illumination above 100 nits could form a "seam." Any conscious life-form approaching it would "fall in" without noticing and vanish completely.
To eliminate physical corners, the following measures should be taken:
1. Arc Structure—In urban construction, all forms of vertical surface junctions must be eliminated and replaced with arcs.
2. Full Coverage Illumination—Ensure that every area of the city was continuously covered by illumination exceeding 100 nits.
All residential communities, public spaces, and other collective areas needed at least two backup power sources connected in parallel, with both bioenergy and conventional electricity available, to ensure a continuous supply of illumination.
3. Biological Sensors—Every household could adopt a special bird bred through modern genetic engineering: the "Corner Parrot." Keep the bird in the home, and the moment any area met the conditions for a corner to form, it would sound an alarm. The wristbands worn by nearby individuals would immediately receive the relevant notification.
≮Psychological Corner≯
When human individuals were in an extreme psychological state and their negative emotions accumulated past a certain threshold, there was a chance that a special corner would form within their thoughts.
The individual would hear whispers from the depths of the Corner. Their desires would be amplified without limit, inducing an abnormal transformation.
During the early stages of a psychological corner's formation, the individual would disguise themselves as thoroughly as possible.
Individuals at this stage were usually called "Pseudo-Humans," or collectively, the "Abnormal Group."
If an individual could maintain their disguise for a long time without being detected by psychological tests or comprehensive physical examinations, then, after meeting the "conditions" proposed by the Corner, they might gain the Corner's recognition and be granted special abnormal abilities.
The individual could transform into whatever they feared most in their heart, also known as "Phobia-concretization."
When the disguise had continued for over a year and all of the Corner's demands had been met, the Mind Corner would mature and could trigger or create an extremely dangerous "Area Anomaly Event."
To prevent the formation of psychological corners, the following measures should be taken:
1. Psychological Screening—Collective areas such as communities, schools, and companies all needed to be equipped with qualified psychological departments. Every person had to undergo a psychological examination at least once a month and upload the report, while their wristband synchronized their personal psychological screening information in real time.
Individuals who failed to undergo examinations on time would be prohibited from entering or leaving most areas. Once discovered, they would be subjected to mandatory examinations.
2. Event Monitoring—Any negative event, including a terminal illness diagnosis, the accidental death of a family member, divorce, congenital mental illness, and so on, would be collected centrally. Monitoring of these special groups would be strengthened, with more comprehensive psychological screenings and regular one-on-one spot checks.
3. Public welfare activities—Focus on groups facing hardships in life and provide financial and daily living assistance. Hold related activities in public areas every month to raise residents' happiness index.
4. Mental hospitals—Add mental hospitals in urban areas along the nation's borders. Patients in need would be provided free inpatient services.
