The frontline defense warriors and defense paladins did not even look at the siege monsters charging at them. They only needed to hide beneath their five-foot-tall shields, brace them, and mindlessly cast Thunder Stomp and Consecration to draw aggro. Attacking was the responsibility of ranged damage dealers such as mages and archers, while healing was the priests' responsibility. The whole battle had little to do with them. Some of the lazier ones had even opened livestream channels to watch the performances of recently popular female streamers.
The mages and archers also attacked mindlessly. The area in front of the defense warriors' shields was packed with monsters anyway, so they only had to toss spells and arrows at fixed locations. Knowing that healers and defense warriors were holding the line, they were so bored that they even began playing the newly released card game within the game.
It was a card game similar to poker, with very simple rules. There were a total of 5,000 cards, printed with most lord-class monsters ranging from level 10 to level 200. Each type of lord-class monster had a different function, divided into four categories: attack, defense, support, and curse.
Each match was played by four people. At the start, each player had a city wall and a king. Afterward, everyone drew five cards and used the attributes of the lord cards in their hands to either increase the defense and health of their city wall and king, or attack their opponents' city walls and kings.
Cards could be combined for attacks. The most powerful combination was when all five cards were lord-class monsters of the same race, allowing all five to be played together for the greatest effect.
