The Zerg's current chaos was not as simple as the death of a single Worm Queen. According to traditional Zerg succession rules, the Worm Queen had always kept reserve Worm Queens.
There were three reserve Worm Queens in total. Under normal circumstances, their strength should have been second only to the Worm Queen's, but throughout endless years, the Worm Queen had only kept the three reserves alive in the form of eggs.
Now that the Worm Queen had suddenly died, the three reserve Worm Queens had been hastily revived. Their strength was only at God King Tier 1.
Of the sixteen Worm Masters, fifteen remained. None of them acknowledged the strength of the three reserve Worm Queens, nor did they recognize their right to inherit the Worm Queen's position.
The three surviving personal-guard Worm Masters each seized one reserve Worm Queen, all wanting the reserve Worm Queen under their control to succeed to the position.
Previously, the Worm Masters had briefly formed alliances, creating a standoff between eight Worm Masters and seven Worm Masters. But after the first Zerg civil war, the contradictions among the fifteen Worm Masters had grown too great, and all alliances had dissolved.
Combined with the power struggle among the three reserve Worm Queens, the entire Zerg race was in an extremely chaotic state, or rather, a state with no order at all.
The Worm Masters controlling their own star domains acted independently, forming separatist regimes, though they nominally still followed the opinions of the three reserve Worm Queens.
Lu Yang had previously thought that the Zerg were not very intelligent, but according to the information obtained from the broodmother controlled by the Arcane King, the Zerg were highly intelligent. They simply had their own racial rules of operation.
