In a shattered silver passageway within Hidden City.
Fright and Oman crouched on the ground, examining the snake-like special contaminated beast they had just killed.
"How was it?"
Oman frowned at his companion, who was using a special testing instrument to analyze the components within its flesh and blood.
"The radiation concentration was very low. No, I couldn't call it low exactly—it was just a very low-grade form of radiation. Compared with the natural radiation outside, the types of radiation in this flesh were far, far less harmful," Fright said with a frown.
"Looks like another stowaway contaminated beast that came out of some spatial transfer device in the ruins," Oman guessed.
"That was possible. But it was fairly strong. My first shot actually failed to pierce it—I had to give it another shot before it went down." Fright stood and removed his gloves.
"What did you think of that person just now?" He shook his hands and looked at Oman.
"We'll observe him for a while. He also came out of the ruins, so he may very well have been contaminated or parasitized by a contaminated beast.
"Once the follow-up examination results come out, we'll observe him for a few years more. If nothing happens, then he should be fine," Oman replied.
"Then it has nothing to do with us." Fright smiled. "Let the inspection squad worry themselves sick over it."
As long as nothing happened on their watch, who cared what problems that person might have?
"But... didn't you think that person was far too calm from beginning to end?" Recalling what had happened earlier, Oman grew suspicious.
"Maybe that contaminated beast was his pet?" Fright laughed.
That was actually possible.
Oman shook his head.
Among contaminated beasts, certain unique individuals could retain their sanity, and thus coexist
