'It was never some great secret,' Secret Whisper said calmly. 'Among the middle and upper circles, it had long been public information.'

"Go on." Wei He was curious about this as well. If it had been someone else, they might have worried that knowing too much would affect their peace and stability.

But he was different.

'Would you like the short version or the complete version?' Secret Whisper asked.

"The complete version," Wei He said.

'The complete version is that, for a long time now, some people have found the balance between the three great empires unbearable. So, in order to overturn that balance, they found a forbidden material at the edge of the Stellar Abyss and secretly created a terrifying weapon of war.'

'This weapon of war possessed a terrifying power that could transcend everything. It could determine the success or failure of an entire campaign. But likewise, it was extremely dangerous.'

"A weapon..." Wei He had also seen signs of this trend in the vast amount of information he had reviewed.

Since humanity had taken control of several star systems, the three great empires had been Knosus, the Penza Empire, and East Salun.

The three were not far apart in strength. Before any one of them could gain an absolute advantage, any war they started would inflict enormous losses upon both sides.

Added to that were the Stellar Abyss's intermittent raids, which pressed down on everyone until they could barely breathe.

That was why human society as a whole had been able to maintain its current peace.

Of course, many people were not satisfied with peace and tranquility. They tried every possible means to gather everyone together, forging them into a single force to resist or even resolve the Stellar Abyss.
