While Star Abyss was preparing the Desperate Wanderer game and the Mother River was continuously devouring vast numbers of souls.
In an unknown desolate starfield somewhere within the Penza Empire.
Deep within an abandoned research base.
Kashulia slowly awoke from her slumber.
She was soaking in a cultivation tank that had long since stopped operating, her entire body covered in sticky green repair fluid.
A foul, fishy stench bored into her nostrils.
"Urgh!" Kashulia wanted to vomit, but no matter what she did, she could not bring anything up.
This was a subsidiary base belonging to the Revivalists, originally a research facility specifically intended to study and protect the transferred Kashulia.
But during a surprise attack not long ago, the base had been accidentally caught in the blast radius of a strategic weapon. Base and planet alike had been reduced to shattered wreckage.
Kashulia had been rather lucky. She had not perished alongside that explosion, instead surviving within a relatively large piece of debris.
"I clearly remember that, at the very end, it seemed Wei He... saved me!?" She moved her limbs freely. Compared to before, her whole body now felt incomparably light, as if she had been reborn.
Her former injuries and lingering aftereffects had completely vanished at this moment.
Shaking her head, Kashulia slowly made her way through the dim, battered corridors of the base.
She had to first figure out what exactly had happened.
Not long after she left.
Two blurry phantoms abruptly appeared in the space beside the cultivation tank.
"Is it really all right not to care about her?" one of them asked quietly. It was none other than Kofila, the Revival Society's Minister of Scientific Research.
"Her body can adapt to any environment. There is no need to worry." The other person looked calm.
