He hurried back to the Wang residence.
No sooner had Wang Shaojun stepped out of the carriage than he saw his father, Wang Yehe, striding out in haste.
His grandfather, Wang Zhihe, was with him as well.
The two were accompanying a middle-aged woman dressed in official robes.
Her brows and eyes were filled with severity, her gaze stern. In her hand, she held what appeared to be a strip of silk.
"Dao Master Wang, Lord Zhao, the provincial governor, requests your presence at the provincial government office!"
"What matter could warrant Lord Gong making the trip personally?" Wang Shaojun's heart tightened. The visitor was one of Lord Zhao's trusted expert aides. Though she was a woman, her strength was not to be underestimated.
"At four this morning, Wei He, master of the Myriad Poison Sect in Xuanching, killed two Inner Court heads of the Wushi Sect in succession at Black House Mountain!"
The woman spoke heavily, each word distinct.
"His strength is suspected to have broken through Ming Gan!"
"What?!" Wang Shaojun stopped in his tracks, his eyes widening.
"Broken through Ming Gan? Impossible!"
He knew Wei He. Along the way, Wei He had not gone through any of the stages required to break through Ming Gan, much less become capable of killing two Inner Court heads from the Wushi Sect in succession.
There had to be some sort of misunderstanding!
"Impossible? There were hundreds of eyewitnesses at the scene. Before hundreds of people, he killed two heads of the court in just a few moves. Such strength has already transcended the realm of Organ Refining.
"The Wushi Sect will surely fly into a rage. What actions they will take next, how many people the Three Main Peaks will send down—these are matters both lords must concern themselves with,"
