"Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah—!"
The crowd couldn't help but scream, unable to bear watching Mo Fan sacrifice himself. But in the end, Lightning Elementalization saved Mo Fan's life once again—sure enough, choosing that ability had been the right call.
The Ghost Wolf Beast's attack didn't harm Mo Fan in the slightest; even it was dumbfounded.
Mo Fan took a step back, dispelling Lightning Elementalization, and said, "Stop yelling, I'm fine. Everyone, let's gang up on it and take it down together."
Xu Zhaoting's pitch-black eyes gleamed with sharp purple light. They were both Lightning Mages—he couldn't let Mo Fan look down on him.
"Thunder Seal - Wild Strategy!!"
Xu Zhaoting raised his hand above his head, his palm continuously gathering violent lightning elements. With a fierce shout, a purple lightning serpent formed from the elements let out a crackling roar, slamming into the Ghost Wolf Beast. Arcs of electricity crawled over its body, paralyzing its muscles and rendering it unable to move.
"Fire Seed: Bone Burning!"
"Fire Seed: Bone Burning!!"
Zhou Min and Mo Fan, one after the other, hurled Level Two Fire Seeds. A single Fire Seed might not kill the Ghost Wolf Beast, but two stacked together produced devastating power.
Bai Yang was stunned. He hadn't expected these students to be this strong, working together to kill his second Ghost Wolf Beast. The mental backlash from his summoned beast's death made him spit out another mouthful of blood. He gasped heavily, realizing his end was near, when suddenly his vision went dark.
It was Mo Fan standing before him.
After the Ghost Wolf Beast died, a Lingering Soul Remnant floated out. Little Loach absorbed it, bringing the total in its space to seven remnants. Little Loach condensed them into a single Soul Essence gleaming with cyan light.
To be honest, Mo Fan was a bit shocked. Based on his experience from his past life, he'd need to kill at least a dozen or even twenty demons and harvest their remnants to condense one Soul Essence. But he'd never seen seven remnants form one before—likely because the remnants were well-preserved.
Mo Fan sank his mind into the Celestial Spirit Codex. Servant-level creatures were the most numerous; the world teemed with bizarre lifeforms, and some weak ones naturally had strange abilities. Leaving aside creatures from the Magic Plane and Summoning Plane, the only ones at the Servant level that could still help Mo Fan were Dark creatures.
The Dark Dimension was vast and rich, with more types of Dark creatures than the Magic Plane or Summoning Plane. Mo Fan's mind flickered briefly, and he quickly settled on the creature he wanted to light up.
Ghost Clan—Blood-robed Fierce Ghost!
In the soul shadow, there was only one dark star, requiring just one Soul Essence to activate. Its ability was a bit terrifying, called [Bloodthirsty Soul Extraction]. By harvesting a prey's blood, it wove itself a blood-red robe, allowing it to switch between spirit form and physical form.
Spirit form was different from Elementalization. Elementalization only granted immunity to physical attacks; other elemental attacks could still injure you. Spirit form was more comprehensive—it could even nullify elements—but it amplified damage from curses and other mental magic. Yet that wasn't the best part. The best part was that this skill could, through torment, extract a prey's Soul Essence with maximum efficiency. The more brutal the torture, the more intact the Soul Essence.
Mo Fan didn't hesitate. He guided the Soul Essence into the Blood-robed Fierce Ghost's dark star. The star ignited, like a long-dormant dead star suddenly bursting with new life. The entire soul shadow stirred, becoming vibrant.
The outline of the soul shadow glowed with fluorescence. Compared to other soul shadows, the Blood-robed Fierce Ghost's was practically lifelike. With the soul shadow fully activated, a warm force flowed along the channels into Mo Fan's Spiritual Universe, strengthening his Spiritual Power.
In the early stages of a mage's training, improving Spiritual Power was always the hardest part. Why did some mages never reach the Intermediate level in their entire lives? Because their Spiritual Power was too low. Activating a soul shadow could actually boost Spiritual Power—that was an unexpected bonus.
Mo Fan lingered in the Celestial Spirit Codex for a while, but in the outside world, only three seconds had passed.
Mo Fan looked down at Bai Yang from above. This villain, one of the culprits behind Bocheng's disaster—killing him outright would be too easy.
[Bloodthirsty Soul Extraction]
Mo Fan immediately used his newly acquired ability. He reached out and placed his hand on top of Bai Yang's head.
Though Bai Yang was vomiting blood heavily, a mage's robust physique meant he wouldn't die anytime soon. With luck, he might even survive. Damn little bastard, you'll die a horrible death. If I survive today, I'll make you suffer beyond imagination and regret it for the rest of your life, Bai Yang thought viciously.
But soon, Bai Yang's expression froze. Wounds began appearing all over his body, as if he'd been sliced a thousand times. Blood flowed from the cuts but didn't fall to the ground—instead, it rose like vapor. His blood gradually atomized, weaving into a scarlet feathered robe.
What's going on? Between him and me, who's really from the Black Flood Pavilion? This kid's like some dark cultivator, Bai Yang thought in shock and fear.
Wait—
Bai Yang's vision flickered, and his expression turned to sheer horror. His pupils were filled with terror, dread, and fear! In his sight, beside Mo Fan, a ghost draped in a red robe had appeared. Its face was indistinct; only a pale chin and crimson lips were visible.
The people behind Mo Fan couldn't see the fierce ghost, but they could see the blood flowing backward and hear Bai Yang's agonized screams. Even Xue Musheng couldn't help but say, "Mo Fan, maybe you should hand him over to the military instead."
Mo Fan's voice was icy. "Teacher Xue, if you can't bear it, think about the humans who died horribly at the hands of demons. Haven't we seen enough along the way?"
At that, Xu Zhaoting and Zhang Xiaohou's eyes instantly reddened. They grabbed Xue Musheng's shoulders and said, "Brother Fan, you did right killing him! We wish we could eat his flesh raw and drink his blood!!"
Mu Bai's expression turned serious too. "I think Mo Fan did the right thing here."
Xue Musheng laughed bitterly. "What do you take me for? Ten years ago, I was a Military Mage guarding the frontlines, alright? I'm not that saintly."
"I just wanted to hand him over to the military first, get some bounty for Mo Fan, and then, after the disaster was over, kill him in front of the entire city!!"
The Blood-robed Fierce Ghost extended its scarlet tongue, licking its pale, ghastly claws before reaching into Bai Yang's body and forcibly yanking out his soul.
It grasped the soul, and as it pulled it out, the soul transformed into a blue essence. Within that essence, stars seemed to swirl—Mo Fan wasn't sure if his eyes were playing tricks on him.
From this, it seemed the quality of a human's essence was tied to their magic level. A Beginner Mage's soul could only condense into a Servant-level essence.
Mo Fan stored the essence in Little Loach's space, then said, "Everyone, head to the Safe Zone first. I'm afraid if we delay, something might go wrong!!"
This time, Mo Fan felt he had handled the conflict well. At the very least, not a single person following him had died.
Crossing the bridge, the warm, wall-like Light Screen barrier was right ahead, with Guardian Mages from the Magic Association standing watch outside.
Once inside the Safe Zone, Mo Fan said to the nearest Military Mage, "I'm Mo Fan. I need to see Zhan Kong."
That Military Mage was stunned. Wasn't I supposed to be the one informing you? How did it turn into you informing me instead??
