"Why, are you planning to join the Avengers too? We have very high standards for our members' combat ability. You'll have to beat Barton first." Tony Stark could not help teasing with a grin.
Hawk Eyes was immediately displeased. "Why me? Do I look like the weakest one here?"
"Aren't you?" Tony raised an eyebrow in response.
Hawk Eyes subconsciously looked around and realized he definitely could not beat Thor. Fighting Doctor Banner, who could transform into Hulk, would be pure suicide. As for Tony in his magic Iron Man suit, magic arrows could not easily pierce through it, making him another person not to be provoked.
That left only Captain America and Black Widow as opponents he could barely fight.
Captain America had a Vibranium shield and formidable combat skills. There was simply limited power an archer could bring to bear against him. Though he was not as hopeless as the others, the winning odds were definitely not high.
In comparison, Natasha, being a woman, was easier to deal with.
But the problem was that Black Widow's main duties were infiltration and intelligence theft.
No matter how pathetic Hawk Eyes thought he was, he was still a grown man. Competing with a woman would be far too embarrassing.
In the end, he could only sigh helplessly and admit that he was the "gatekeeper" at the bottom of the Avengers' strength rankings.
There was nothing he could do about it. He had neither the money nor the brains to play with technology, nor the good luck to undergo mutation. He was merely an Ordinary Person who had reached this point through hard training.
Seeing Hawk Eyes' dejected expression, quite a few people present smiled knowingly.
The facts proved once again that happiness was always built upon someone else's suffering.
