Even without Thanos personally overseeing things, they were still full of confidence in this operation.

That was why those immensely powerful cosmic empires became exceptionally cautious whenever Thanos was mentioned.
Even knowing full well that he clung to the insane ideal of permanently erasing half the life in the universe, they were unwilling to confront him head-on.
Looking at the blue planet in the distance, Ebony Maw asked without turning around, "Have you all chosen your targets?"
"Of course! Cull Obsidian and I are going after the Mind Stone." Proxima Midnight gave her answer without hesitation.
"In that case, I can only choose the Time Stone as my target."
As he spoke, Ebony Maw raised a hand and lightly manipulated the projector, pulling up portraits of the holders of the two Infinity Stones from the database.
One was none other than Kamar-Taj's current Sorcerer Supreme—Stephen Strange. The other was Vision.
As Thanos's most trusted subordinates, the Black Order naturally could not have been unaware of Kamar-Taj and the Sorcerer Supreme.
Cull Obsidian pointed at Doctor Strange and asked, "Are you sure you want to deal with this guy alone? I heard mages are a difficult bunch to handle. Especially the Sorcerer Supreme—their power comes from dimensional Demon Gods."
"Don't worry. This Sorcerer Supreme is merely a rookie who has only just taken the position. He has no idea how to maximize his own power. At most, he can control the Time Stone to a certain extent." Ebony Maw answered confidently.
