Without question, the development of Nen abilities was often tied to an Ability User's own experiences. To some extent, it could even be said to reflect the truest side of their heart. But it was also closely connected to imagination and one's store of knowledge.
Unfortunately, most Nen users in the world of Hunter x Hunter were illiterate or barely literate. They spent all their time and energy tempering their bodies and minds rather than studying the scientific fundamentals and theories they considered utterly useless.
This meant that when developing Nen abilities, these people were limited by their horizons and understanding, unable to push their abilities to the absolute limit.
But Allen was different!
He was a Transmigrator, someone who had received over a decade of education under a modern scientific system. He was full of curiosity and interest in natural sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology, and astronomy, and often browsed related knowledge and news online.
What he remembered most vividly was his first time entering a laboratory and, under his teacher's guidance, completing an experiment involving water's three states of matter. The memory remained crystal clear even now.
That was why, after confirming that his natural affinity was for Shape Transformation, he had immediately focused his ability on changing the forms of matter.
By the same token, Allen viewed Nen abilities from a completely different perspective than most people.
Under his guidance, Rikudō's ability began advancing by leaps and bounds in just a few hours. He could even make the wheelchair beneath him move at Formula One speeds, while turning and braking as sharply as a motorcycle.
"Heh, enjoy the last moments of your life. No matter how strong you become, you'll ultimately end up as food for the red dragon."
Seeing the excitement and madness written all over the other man's face, Allen could not help smiling and shaking his head. He placed a note filled with information on using Vow and Restriction to strengthen Nen abilities on the ground, then turned and left alone.
Now, he could finally understand, at least a little, Hisoka's desire to nurture powerful opponents.
But their purposes were completely different. One simply wanted to enjoy the thrill and pleasure of battle, while the other wanted to grow stronger through hunting.
Just like that, a day quickly passed.
The next day, the stands on the two-hundredth floor of Sky Arena were still packed to the brim. More than sixty percent of the audience had come specifically to see the red dragon that had been summoned at the end of the previous battle.
Of course, there were also some fanatical female fans.
You must know, among the many Nen fighters on the two-hundredth floor, there were very few like Allen who had both looks and strength.
On top of that, he looked quite young, and his fighting style gave off an especially dashing and handsome impression. Naturally, he was particularly likely to attract female attention.
"What passionate cheers! It seems you've become a star competitor here. I wonder when I'll be qualified to stand up there and fight an unknown opponent." Bodrō sighed in a deeply envious tone.
"Don't rush. Once you can clear all three places within the allotted time, I'll agree to let you step into the arena for one-on-one matches against other competitors." Allen turned and glanced at the Martial Artist, whose entire body radiated intense fighting spirit.
As a witness, he knew perfectly well what level Bodrō's strength had reached.
Perhaps there was still a huge gap between him and the Phantom Troupe members who killed without batting an eye, but he was already far stronger than those mediocre fighters on the two-hundredth floor.
Especially his "Hatsu," which he had trained over the past two days by using the Dungeon's Time Difference. It was developing toward a complete martial arts set like Chairman Netero's Hyakushiki Kannon, and he had already developed its second move.
"Understood! I'll work twice as hard!"
Bodrō did not press the matter any further. He never went against Allen's decisions, and in terms of attitude, he completely placed himself in a subordinate position.
Because in his heart, he had already decided that even his life had been given to him by Allen. Therefore, the meaning of the rest of his life was to give everything he had to become a qualified helper who would not hold Allen back.
While the two were speaking, the Sky Arena referee finally appeared and raised both hands, signaling for the competitors to enter the arena.
On the other side, the female commentator seated before the microphone began informing the audience of the two competitors' detailed information and respective records.
But none of that had anything to do with Allen. He had already focused his gaze and all his attention on the transformed Rikudō.
In a sense, today's match would likely be the first time since learning Nen abilities that he would need to take things somewhat seriously.
After all, opponents with high-speed movement abilities were usually troublesome.
"Thank you for the note you left behind. It helped me understand what Nen truly is, and how to break through my limits and become stronger in a short time," Rikudō said, breaking the silence first.
Allen responded with a smile. "You're welcome. I'm glad you used Vow and Restriction to make your Nen stronger. Now, you've finally grown into the most valuable prey I've encountered so far."
"Prey? After seeing my speed, are you sure you can still win this match?" Rikudō narrowed his eyes and probed cautiously.
"Of course! If a Nen user cannot fight with the determination to win, then they've already lost half the battle before it even begins. Besides, your ability was developed with my help. Do you think I wouldn't be confident?"
As he spoke, Allen nodded toward the referee beside them.
The referee immediately understood and loudly announced the start of the match.
As the last word was blurted out, Rikudō instantly activated his ability and began circling the arena at a speed the Naked Eye could not possibly distinguish. At the same time, he infused his aura into an arm-thick metal tube embedded in his wheelchair.
The next second...
Boom!
A Nen bullet the size of an adult male's head shot directly out of it, flying at extreme speed toward Allen's position.
"Combining speed with long-range attacks? You really did develop a tactic that suits you quite well."
As Allen commented, he sidestepped the Nen bullet and allowed it to slam into the barrier behind him, blasting a massive Deep Pit into it on the spot.
"Hmph! Thanks to your guidance! Today, I'll let you taste what it means to lift a rock only to smash your own foot!" Rikudō sneered as he poured aura into the tubes on both sides of his wheelchair.
In less than a few seconds, two Nen bullets shot out at once, closing off Allen's room to maneuver from the left and right.
Because he possessed powerful mobility, he had chosen to use extended charging time to increase the Nen bullets' power and Destructive Power. He was not worried in the slightest about being attacked while charging.
But just when Rikudō was certain that the two Nen bullets would injure Allen, perhaps even seriously wound him, he suddenly saw a glint of cold light flying straight toward him at an unbelievable speed.
Fortunately, his reaction speed was fast enough, and he made a ninety-degree extreme turn in time.
The glint of cold light brushed past his cheek and smashed violently into the stone slabs of the arena floor.
In an instant!
Bang!
The floor and the Reinforced Concrete pillar beneath it were both blasted into a funnel-shaped Deep Pit by the terrifying impact. The outermost layer was as wide as a washbasin, but it narrowed the deeper it went until the very bottom was only the size of a coin.
