Because not long ago, he had suddenly discovered that he was poisoned.
And the source of the toxic substance was the palladium used in the latest miniature Arc Reactor in his chest.
It had to be said, for the proud and arrogant Tony Stark, this was an enormous irony.
Likewise, he realized why Allen had repeatedly reminded him to buy a bottle of antidote, as well as the true meaning behind that final sentence: "I wish you good health."
But unfortunately, it was too late for regrets now.
With its owner gone, that general store and the surrounding space had been completely sealed off. Outsiders could not get close at all.

If, like in the original plot, there had been no other solution, perhaps he would have calmly accepted fate and begun making arrangements for after his death.
But now, there had clearly been a way to solve it, only for him to throw it away through his own arrogance and conceit. How could Tony Stark, whose life had only just begun to change, possibly accept that?
