Ch. 61"Ghoul"

Allen and Bodrō found the serial killer Zebrulon, who was torturing a young woman, and launched a rescue and arrest. Allen confronted Zebrulon and discovered that his Ghoul ability granted more than rapid healing, leaving the fight unresolved.

  • Allen and Bodrō located Zebrulon in a house near the slums and found a badly tortured woman tied to his bed.
  • Allen planned a direct attack while Bodrō prepared to protect and evacuate the victim, then Allen blasted through the house wall with Jet Acceleration.
  • Zebrulon transformed with his Ghoul ability, but Allen's powerful punch sent him through a concrete wall; Zebrulon quickly healed his injuries.
  • Allen challenged Zebrulon to wager their Nen, and Zebrulon attacked with claws that gouged deep marks into the concrete.
  • Allen evaded Zebrulon's strike and realized that Ghoul had enhanced his speed and strength by imitating an unknown creature.

Ch. 62Awakening

Allen battled Zebrulon while Bodrō rescued the victim, who unexpectedly awakened Nen and gained a healing ability. After she revealed that Zebrulon ate human flesh and used a paralyzing toxin, Allen killed him and had Vilnalasath devour his cocoon to seize his abilities.

  • Allen defended against Zebrulon's attacks while observing his abilities, as Bodrō carried the rescued woman to safety.
  • The woman awakened Nen, materialized a giant rabbit doll, and healed her injuries.
  • Bodrō brought the woman to Allen, who warned them about Zebrulon's regeneration, physical enhancement, aura recovery, and toxic claws and teeth.
  • The woman identified Zebrulon's toxin and revealed that he ate the remains of his victims.
  • Allen froze Zebrulon's regenerating cells with Liquefy Air and destroyed his upper body with a Mithril Arrow.
  • Vilnalasath swallowed Zebrulon's cocoon so Allen could seize his abilities.

Ch. 63Ability of Refusal and Rejection

Allen tested the rescued woman’s Nen ability and discovered that her plush rabbit could reject injuries and other effects from living beings. After explaining the danger of the Nen world, he bought her ability for his savings, and she chose a quiet life with the money.

  • Allen uploaded proof of Ghoul’s death, received the bounty, and split the money with Luna and Bodrō.
  • At a café, Allen concluded that the woman’s plush rabbit rejected whatever she strongly wanted to refuse, rather than simply healing injuries.
  • Allen tested the ability with the woman and confirmed that it required the rabbit’s hug, a strong desire, and a living target.
  • Allen explained the risks of joining the Nen world and offered the woman three choices, including selling her ability to him.
  • The woman chose to sell her ability, and Allen transferred all his savings to her.

Ch. 64A-Rank Wanted Criminal—Mad Chemist

Allen and Bodrō discussed why a woman had sold her Nen ability, then Allen trained a new ability during an Airship trip. He confronted the A-rank wanted criminal Pell, whose chemical Nen ability threatened civilians, and Pell warned Allen to abandon the arrest.

  • Bodrō questioned the woman's decision to give up her ability, and Allen argued that selling it let her escape danger and secure wealth.
  • Allen booked an Airship and trained the Big Good Rabbit Doll, using a reconfigured Ghoul ability to trigger the intense emotions it required.
  • Allen reached the next city and rushed toward Pell, the Mad Chemist, after spotting him on the wanted map.
  • Pell threw a conjured flask that exploded, damaged nearby buildings, and poisoned several pedestrians.
  • Pell explained that Incredible Chemical Reactions let him create explosive and toxic substances, then threatened mass casualties if Allen tried to arrest him.

Ch. 65Go to Hell with Me!

Allen fought the Chemist, Pell, after having Bodrō evacuate the crowd from the Blocks. He killed Pell and had Vilnalasath devour him, then used Ghoul to recover from the toxins and acid.

  • Allen ordered Bodrō to evacuate the injured and onlookers from the Blocks.
  • Pell released a deadly airborne toxin, but Allen stopped it from spreading and used Transmutation to condense it and poison Pell's wound.
  • Pell conjured a massive tank of dark green solution, while Allen explained the limits of Pell's ability and fulfilled the prerequisites to steal it.
  • Allen dragged Pell away from the tank and killed him with a powerful punch despite Pell splashing toxic, corrosive liquid at them both.
  • Vilnalasath turned Pell into a cocoon and devoured him, and Allen used Ghoul and the plush rabbit doll to expel the poison and heal his burns.

Ch. 66Cheadle Yorkshire

After Allen defeated the Mad Chemist Pell, Chairman Netero warned him that Pell’s enormous tank of toxic solution could devastate the city. Allen kept the tank intact until Cheadle Yorkshire arrived to secure it, and she told him he would receive a reward and a One-star Hunter promotion.

  • Allen recovered from the pain of enhancing his nerves and learned from Chairman Netero that Pell’s final move could poison the city for years.
  • Allen told Chairman Netero that Pell was dead and the giant tank of toxic solution remained in the downtown area.
  • Allen reinforced the tank with Shu and guarded it while police and soldiers secured the area.
  • Cheadle Yorkshire arrived four hours later and scolded Allen for the danger he had caused, then acknowledged that he had eliminated Pell successfully.
  • Cheadle explained that the Association would take the solution for research and that Allen would receive extra income and a One-star Hunter promotion.

Ch. 67Life Essence

Allen gave Kido the Life Essence to research in exchange for sharing her findings, then continued toward his next target. Meanwhile, Luna and Rice watched memories of Allen’s battles and considered recruiting him to help avenge their dead companions.

  • Kido explained that Pell had become a terrorist after surviving the destruction of a research facility, and Allen said he would keep hunting dangerous criminals.
  • Allen gave Kido a glowing crystal called Life Essence and asked her to share all her research findings with him.
  • Luna and Rice watched images of Allen defeating Ghoul Zebrulon and Mad Chemist Pell, and Rice judged him extraordinarily powerful.
  • Rice said Allen might help them avenge their companions, but she decided to wait until he had finished hunting the wanted criminals on his map.

Ch. 68Netero's Expectations

Kido returned to Hunter Association headquarters with toxic solution and Life Essence, while Pariston probed her about Allen and Netero assessed Allen’s growing power. Netero looked forward to fighting Allen and ordered Kido to keep research into the Life Essence strictly secret.

  • Kido returned to headquarters and told Pariston that Pell the Mad Chemist was dead and the poisoned victims had recovered.
  • Pariston suggested Allen had become a dangerous destabilizing factor, but Kido warned that Netero would protect him and that provoking him could make him stronger.
  • Netero asked Kido how Allen compared to him, and she said Allen’s aura reserves already surpassed his and described Allen’s goal of taking opponents’ aura and abilities.
  • Netero said he would wait for Allen to challenge him and would let Pariston act as he pleased, since Allen had to prove himself worthy of becoming Netero’s opponent.
  • Kido showed Netero the green-glowing Life Essence Allen had given her and explained that she wanted to study its energy and potential medicinal uses.
  • Netero warned that a rejuvenating medicine could attract V5 and powerful figures, then ordered Kido to keep the research confidential and limit those involved.

Ch. 69New Nickname

After capturing sixteen high-ranked wanted criminals, Allen and Bodrō considered what to do next as their fame made further hunts difficult. Luna contacted Allen with a suggestion and said she would meet him shortly.

  • Allen and Red Dragon hunted down ten B-rank and six A-rank wanted criminals over forty-eight days, and the criminals' cocoons fed Vilnalasath.
  • The Hunter Association promoted Allen and Bodrō to one-star status, and they earned more than twenty billion Jenny in bounties.
  • Bodrō explained how his battles against Nen users had shaped his approach to different ability types.
  • Allen asked Bodrō what they should do next, and Bodrō warned that their fame made it hard to pursue more wanted criminals.
  • Allen called Luna, who teased him about his new nicknames and offered a suggestion; she told him to wait ten minutes for her.

Ch. 70Death Reporting Bird

Luna and Rice asked Allen to help them avenge the Death Reporting Bird, an Assassin organization that killed their teammates, offering their Nen abilities in exchange. Allen showed interest in their tracking abilities, and Rice began explaining her own power, Heartbeat Pocket Watch.

  • Luna introduced Rice to Allen, who refused Rice’s handshake until he understood her abilities.
  • Rice revealed that she and Luna survived the Death Reporting Bird’s final operation and wanted Allen to kill every member of the organization.
  • Rice explained that Luna’s Hunting Map marks people and that her Eyes of the Departed records what the dead saw in their final ten minutes.
  • Allen asked why they had not hired the Zoldyck Family, and Rice said their price was beyond their means.
  • Rice offered her and Luna’s abilities as payment, and Allen asked to learn how those abilities worked.
  • Rice demonstrated Heartbeat Pocket Watch, which let her alter a target’s heartbeat and affect their body and combat rhythm.

Ch. 71Eyes of the Departed

Allen agreed to help Luna and Rice hunt the Death Reporting Bird in exchange for their Nen abilities, then received the information Luna had preserved with Eyes of the Departed. With the members’ details in hand, he prepared to make Hunting Maps and begin the hunt.

  • Luna explained the activation conditions and restrictions of the Hunting Map and Eyes of the Departed to Allen.
  • Allen accepted the deal, and Luna and Rice signed contracts staking their Nen abilities.
  • Vilnalasath appeared as Allen asked Luna and Rice to commit their Nen to the contract.
  • Luna transferred the records from Eyes of the Departed to Allen, leaving both of them exhausted and Allen vomiting.
  • Allen said he now knew the Death Reporting Bird members’ names, appearances, and abilities and planned to make Hunting Maps.

Ch. 72Divine Artifact—Gnomish Mind Control Cap

Allen lured the eight members of Death Reporting Bird into gathering at the harbor so he could kill them without provoking political repercussions. He approached the container wearing the Gnomish Mind Control Cap, and screams soon sounded from inside.

  • Lupos spotted the sixth Death Reporting Bird member sneaking into a container, while Rice and Luna reacted with anger and grief.
  • Allen explained that the former assassins feared exposure because many had become powerful businesspeople and government figures.
  • Allen told Rice and Luna he intended to make the Death Reporting Bird members kill one another rather than attack them openly.
  • The final two members arrived, and Allen put on the Gnomish Mind Control Cap and activated Unseeable Reaper.
  • Allen walked toward the container as Bodrō told Rice and Luna there was no need to help him.
  • Panicked shouts and piercing screams erupted from the container.

Ch. 73Mutual Slaughter

Allen and his companions wiped out the Death Reporting Bird members, allowing Luna and Rice to avenge their fallen companions and surrender their Nen abilities. After Luna and Rice left to begin ordinary lives, Allen used Hunting Map to mark wanted Nen users as targets before the group’s trip to Yorknew City.

  • The Death Reporting Bird members fled the container after killing the man controlled by Allen’s Gnomish Mind Control Cap, but Allen’s Unseeable Reaper ability forced them to slaughter one another until all eight were dead.
  • Allen stopped Red Dragon Vilnalasath from devouring the bodies so the police could find them and connect the crime to the Death Reporting Bird.
  • Luna admitted defeat and gave Allen her Nen abilities, Hunting Map and Eyes of the Departed, and Rice also surrendered her Nen.
  • Luna and Rice thanked Allen for helping them take revenge, then left together to start new lives outside the world of Nen.
  • Allen searched the Hunter website and marked wanted Nen users on Hunting Map, planning to catch as many as possible before late August.

Ch. 74Return to Yorknew City

Allen returned to Yorknew City and delivered weapons, equipment, and healing potions to Marcus Cabelli ahead of the underground Auction. He hinted that he knew the Ten Dons and Shadow Beasts faced a major upheaval, and Marcus eagerly asked him to explain how he could seize leadership of the Mafia Community.

  • Allen spent over a month hunting and killing wanted criminals for Red Dragon before boarding an Airship back to Yorknew City.
  • Allen and Bodrō changed into expensive suits, then went to meet Marcus Cabelli at a hotel.
  • Marcus showed Allen the black case he had acquired, and Allen asked whether Marcus had obtained what he needed.
  • After Marcus dismissed his bodyguards and underlings, Allen revealed a large supply of weapons, equipment, and healing potions.
  • Marcus said the potions had caused a hundred or more fights in the underground world and insisted he had protected Allen's secret.
  • Allen offered Marcus important information about the Auction, the Shadow Beasts, and the Ten Dons that could help him become the Mafia Community's new leader, and Marcus eagerly asked to hear it.

Ch. 75Whether Someone Is an Expert Depends on the Comparison

Allen told Marcus Cabelli that the Phantom Troupe would attack the Ten Dons’ underground Auction on September 1 and offered to deal with them while Marcus seized power. After Calvin described Allen’s reputation and abilities, Marcus began planning to become the Mafia Community’s new leader.

  • Marcus Cabelli realized that the Phantom Troupe’s attack could leave the Mafia Community without its leaders and give him a chance to take power.
  • Allen told Marcus to continue the Auction, build alliances, and leave the Phantom Troupe to him, while bringing enemies to the venue for the spiders to eliminate.
  • Allen left the Cabelli family hotel with Bodrō, and Marcus asked Calvin about Allen’s recent record.
  • Calvin told Marcus that Allen was known as Divine Arrow and Death, and that Allen could kill him almost instantly.
  • Calvin judged that Allen could likely defeat the Phantom Troupe, and Marcus decided to begin planning his rise.

Ch. 76Only by Standing High Enough Can You See Scenery Others Cannot

Allen showed Bodrō a powerful Rose of Poor and explained that he wanted it as a dangerous weapon and a possible addition to his own abilities. He warned Bodrō that the world contained formidable foes like Netero and that the coming fight with the Phantom Troupe could end in death, leaving Bodrō fired up to grow stronger.

  • Bodrō pressed Allen to reveal what was in the blast-proof case, and Allen showed him a Rose of Poor containing dozens of times the material in an ordinary one.
  • Allen explained the Rose’s destructive force and said he planned to test it in a Dungeon and combine it with Kortopi’s ability.
  • Allen described how Hyakushiki Kannon could strike in less than 0.01 seconds, shocking Bodrō with Netero’s speed.
  • Allen urged Bodrō to become stronger and warned him that the Phantom Troupe were deadly desperadoes who would fight to the death.
  • Bodrō welcomed the danger, and Allen reflected that he, too, had died once and knew that any hunter could become prey.

Ch. 77Phantom Troupe—Assemble

Allen disguised himself as Hisoka to infiltrate the Phantom Troupe’s meeting and create an opportunity to steal members’ abilities. Chrollo ordered the Troupe to seize every treasure at the underground Auction, while Allen and Hisoka planned to hunt the Troupe during the coming Yorknew City chaos.

  • Allen received Hisoka’s meeting address, transformed into his likeness, and poisoned his own shoulder to create a convincing reason to approach Shizuku.
  • Hisoka led Allen into the ruined church, where Shizuku used Bulleye Fish to remove the toxins from Allen’s wound.
  • Allen suggested that Shizuku add Manipulation-type Nen to give Bulleye Fish independent movement and judgment, and Franklin supported the idea.
  • Chrollo announced that the Phantom Troupe would steal every treasure at the underground Auction.
  • Chrollo ordered the Troupe to kill everyone who might cause trouble, as Allen and Hisoka prepared to make the Troupe their prey.

Ch. 78The More Trouble, the More Fun

Allen finalized his plans to turn the Phantom Troupe’s coming attack into a war, while warning Hisoka about fighting Chrollo. Meanwhile, Kido completed ten Life Potions and divided them between Allen and Netero, who ordered her to keep them from falling into dangerous hands.

  • Allen told Hisoka that he would provoke the Phantom Troupe into a large-scale war and leave Chrollo for him to fight.
  • Allen warned Hisoka not to let Chrollo prepare before their duel, and Hisoka agreed that Allen could claim Chrollo if he lost.
  • Kido announced that she had made ten Life Potions that healed injuries and extended life, but a second dose caused rapid aging and death.
  • Netero declined a dose and told Kido to keep the potions away from the V5 politicians and other people with ill intentions.
  • Kido divided the potions equally between Allen and Netero, while Netero expressed his hope of using one to face a powerful opponent.

Ch. 79First Blood

At the Yorknew City auction, Allen killed Shizuku and stole her Nen ability, then left clues to make the mafia and Phantom Troupe blame each other. Chrollo believed Shizuku had been captured by the mafia, and the Troupe prepared to confront their pursuers.

  • The Phantom Troupe attacked the auction, killing hundreds of attendees and leaving Fei Jie and one bodyguard as the only survivors.
  • Allen ambushed Shizuku, forced her to stake her Nen, killed her, and had Vilnalasath swallow her cocoon.
  • Allen knocked Fei Jie unconscious, took Shizuku's cross and glasses, and left them conspicuously behind before escaping with Fei Jie.
  • Mafia members discovered the massacre, mobilized across Yorknew City, and began pursuing the Phantom Troupe's hot-air balloon.
  • Uvogin told Chrollo that Shizuku had disappeared and suspected a traitor, but Chrollo concluded the mafia had likely abducted her.
  • Uvogin prepared to interrogate the pursuing mobsters about Shizuku and the stolen auction goods.

Ch. 80Dinner Time

Fei Jie woke in the wilderness and saw Uvogin withstand a rocket, then learned Allen was hunting the Phantom Troupe and agreed to stay quiet until the hunt ended. Allen and Bodrō ambushed four Shadow Beasts, and Vilnalasath consumed their remains.

  • Fei Jie woke in the wilderness and watched Uvogin stop a rocket with his bare hand.
  • Allen told Fei Jie he was hunting the Phantom Troupe and asked her to stay with them so the plan would not leak.
  • Fei Jie recognized Allen as Death and agreed to help hunt the Phantom Troupe.
  • Bodrō warned Allen that the Shadow Beasts had arrived, and Allen killed Leech, Worm, Rabid Dog, and Porcupine with enchanted arrows.
  • Vilnalasath gathered and ate the four Shadow Beasts' remains, while Allen checked their ability cards and found nothing.
