Allen and his team survived the nuclear detonation and returned with evidence of the creature they called the Island Controller, which V5 classified as an A-level threat. After V5 praised Allen and concealed the crisis from the public, he warned Sreian that the Kakin Royal Family was conspiring with Beyond and that the whole world would soon be involved.

  • The mercenary captain argued that Allen had likely survived, and Allen soon returned to the airship with Hisoka, Fei Jie, and Bodrō.
  • Allen gave the observer footage of the Island Controller, while Hisoka handed over photographs; the recordings showed the creature’s conversation and its claim that it had reached an agreement with a human.
  • V5 sealed the evidence, classified the creature as an A-level threat, and praised Allen, while officials hid the crisis from the public as a military exercise.
  • Sreian explained that Hunters at higher levels could not return to ordinary life, but Allen said he preferred the danger and excitement of the job.

  • Allen healed Ponzu, awakened a soldier ant's Nen, and killed it so Vilnalasath could consume it.
  • Vilnalasath estimated the ant's aura at around twelve thousand and proposed using its life essence to improve Allen's muscles; Allen told her to prioritize reaction speed and explosive power.
  • Illumi arrived with four captured soldier ants, and Allen assigned Bodrō to awaken their Nen and Fei Jie to control them.
  • The ants developed Nen abilities, but Allen's group killed them and fed their cocoons to Vilnalasath before leaving the massacre site to camp by a river.

Allen’s guerrilla campaign against the Chimera Ants raised his aura capacity to about 1.2 million and greatly enhanced his physical abilities. After explaining how he created the Red Dragon to Kalluto, Allen withdrew from the ants’ territory to regroup and prepare to meet Chairman Netero’s Subjugation Team.

Allen revealed that the Chimera Ant Royal Guards rivaled his aura and the unborn King would be far stronger, warning Netero’s team of the danger. As the group headed for safety to recover, Allen struck a deal with Killua to help him and Gon grow stronger in exchange for Killua’s unconditional fulfillment of a future request.

  • Allen released his Nen to demonstrate his strength, leaving Nobu trembling and Morel barely able to stand, then warned that the Royal Guards matched his aura and the King would be more than three times stronger.

Ch. 156A Stronger Ant Army (3/5)

Neferpitou captured Kite, who was hypnotized and turned into Biter’s combat-training puppet, while Netero, Morel, and Nobu struggled to contain the Nen-trained Chimera Ant army. Forced to retreat before Biter and Youpi, Netero waited for Allen’s team and accepted that the mission could be his final battle.

  • Neferpitou brought the badly wounded Kite to Pouf, and Biter chose to turn him into a puppet for combat training rather than send him to the Queen as food.
  • Pouf hypnotized Kite with Nen scales, and Biter took control of him before a squadron leader healed his injuries.
  • Netero, Morel, and Nobu watched the ant nest, then used smoke puppets and Nobu’s ability to kill hundreds of soldier ants and more than a dozen squadron leaders over a day or two.
  • Biter and Youpi began patrolling the forest, forcing Netero’s team to halt their attacks and retreat to a cave twenty kilometers from the nest.
  • Netero told Morel and Nobu to wait for Allen’s team, while privately resolving to take the King down even if it cost him his life.

After 140 days of brutal training in the game world, Gon and Killua returned with vastly increased aura reserves, but Allen warned them that they still could not face the Chimera Ant Royal Guards. Allen then left with Illumi, Hisoka, and Kalluto for NGL while Gon and Killua remained unqualified to join the Subjugation Team.

  • Allen put Gon and Killua through 140 days of near-death training, raising both their aura reserves above sixty thousand.
  • Gon and Killua celebrated their strength and vowed to face powerful enemies, but Allen warned that they were still far below the Royal Guards and must not approach them.
  • Illumi, Hisoka, and Kalluto arrived, and Illumi questioned how Allen had tripled Gon and Killua's Nen in two weeks.
  • Kalluto asked whether Gon and Killua would join the group, and Allen said they had not yet earned the right to take part in the war.
  • Killua explained that Gon and he still needed to defeat two people and collect their half-boards before qualifying for the Subjugation Team, so Allen departed for NGL with his team.

Allen attacked Zaiyilo, the reincarnated Chimera Ant who retained his memories and murderous intent, and discovered that his black liquid Nen ability rapidly aged and destroyed anything it touched. Allen marked Zaiyilo and used explosive, tracking arrows to knock him down, leaving the fight unresolved.

  • Allen rejected Zaiyilo's attempt to negotiate and struck him hard enough to shatter his kidney.
  • Zaiyilo offered Allen his bank accounts, then summoned black liquid that swallowed Allen's arrowheads and reduced them to dust.
  • Zaiyilo split the liquid and sent droplets at Allen, who dodged and saw the black rain turn trees, soil, and stones to dust.
  • Allen placed a red X mark on Zaiyilo and fired tracking arrows into the sky.
  • Zaiyilo blocked the arrows with the black liquid, but explosions behind him blasted apart a tree and hurled him several meters away.
