Ch. 1701NERV Only Knows How to Call for Help

The Victory Fleet neared completion of its preparations, with most units upgraded and its pilots training for departure. When NERV reported that five previously defeated Apostles had reappeared near its headquarters, Xiao Ran ordered the available forces to fight and decided to go there himself.

  • The Victory Fleet spent its remaining preparation time training pilots and upgrading their units, while Xiao Ran ensured they also rested.
  • Renard reported that about eighty percent of the fleet's work was complete, and Kenzo Kabuto promised a combat-strengthening surprise from the True Science Fortress Research Institute.
  • NERV contacted the Burning Legion after the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Tenth Apostles reappeared near its headquarters.
  • Misato Katsuragi and Ritsuko Akagi requested immediate support because NERV's forces might not be able to defeat the Apostles alone.
  • Xiao Ran told NERV to deploy all available forces alongside Shinji Ikari and Graham's group, then decided to go there personally.

Ch. 1702Late Arrival

Xiao Ran arrived at NERV after the Apostles had already been defeated and learned that Kaworu had urged the EVA pilots to absorb their S2 Engines. As Xiao Ran headed for the command center to question Kaworu about the Apostles’ return, a new alarm sounded throughout NERV.

  • Xiao Ran flew Dawn to NERV, where Unit-13 and the other mecha had already defeated the attacking Apostles.
  • Kaworu Nagisa told Shinji Ikari that the EVAs could grow stronger by absorbing the Apostles’ S2 Engines, and Asuka, Rei Ayanami, and Mari Makinami began doing so with their units.
  • Misato Katsuragi objected, but Xiao Ran supported Kaworu’s advice and left Dawn to investigate the Apostles’ origins and return.
  • A piercing alarm sounded as Xiao Ran was heading to NERV’s combat command center, and he quickened his pace toward it.

Ch. 1703Gedim's Unknown Objective

Xiao Ran watched Graham, Nalo, Saki, and Zechs fight Gedim while the EVAs remained immobilized, and he suspected the attackers were pursuing a hidden objective. When Unit 2 began to recover, he forbade all EVAs from joining the battle and ordered them to protect the others; he then asked Misato to send Kaworu Nagisa to meet him after the fight.

  • Xiao Ran entered NERV's Command Center and dismissed Misato Katsuragi's concerns about the immobilized EVAs, saying his forces could handle Gedim.
  • Xiao Ran watched Graham, Nalo, Saki, and Zechs battle Gedim and wondered whether the enemy was collecting data or targeting the EVAs.
  • Unit 2 slowly stood up, its eyes glowing red as it prepared to attack Gedim.
  • Xiao Ran ordered all EVAs to stay out of the battle and protect Unit-01 and Unit 8, prompting Asuka to protest.
  • Xiao Ran told Misato to have Kaworu Nagisa meet him in Commander Watari's office after the battle.

Ch. 1704The Apostles No Longer Took an Interest in NERV

Xiao Ran questioned Kaworu about the returning Apostles and welcomed him into the Victory Fleet, while remaining wary of the Apostles’ possible interest in Unit-13. He returned to Atami, set the Victory Fleet’s departure preparations in motion, and reunited its scattered forces as they awaited the True Science Fortress Research Institute’s final surprise.

  • Xiao Ran asked Kaworu why destroyed Apostles had appeared again, and Kaworu said the Apostles would no longer attack NERV.
  • Xiao Ran invited Kaworu to join the Victory Fleet, and Kaworu agreed to work with them for the sake of the world.
  • Xiao Ran suspected Kaworu had summoned the Apostles to give the EVAs S2 Engines, but wondered whether the Apostles might now be interested in Unit-13 or the Victory Fleet.
  • Xiao Ran piloted the Dawn back to Atami and ordered the Victory Fleet to assemble for its final departure.
  • The unified command, Anaheim, and the True Science Fortress Research Institute completed preparations and loaded supplies and machines aboard the fleet’s warships.
  • The Victory Fleet reunited beside the True Science Fortress Research Institute, and Xiao Ran heard Luo and Renard’s reports aboard the Burning Legion while awaiting the Institute’s surprise.

Ch. 1705Does This Count as Mod 10?

Renard briefed Xiao Ran on the completed upgrades to the Victory Fleet’s warships and mecha before departure. The fleet’s ships had stronger defenses, energy systems, and mobility, while its mecha had been improved according to their different types.

  • Renard explained that Technicians from many factions had completed upgrades or rebuilds for the fleet’s warships and mecha.
  • Renard reported that the warships received PS Armor, stronger energy systems, Artemis Shields, added gun emplacements, and equipment for more stable long-distance jumps.
  • Xiao Ran confirmed that most warships had roughly doubled their performance, while Renard said offensive upgrades were limited to adding gun emplacements.
  • Renard described how Technicians divided the mecha work into Super Robot, Real Robot, and Fantasy type sections.
  • Renard said every modified Real Robot Gundam reached at least A- level and could use an individual Solar Furnace.
  • Renard reported that the Yajenar First Squadron’s mecha, except for Ange’s, had been rebuilt as compatible black PMs with help from the Dragon Clan princess.

Ch. 1706Experimental Subject

Xiao Ran discussed the Hysterica machines with Renard, who had rebuilt them into combat-capable units, and assigned Renard command of the Yajenar First Squadron. Luo then reported on several completed and ongoing machine upgrades, including a prototype for Basak.

  • Xiao Ran asked whether the Hysterica machines were ready, and Renard explained that he and Miko Princess Sara had replaced their systems and removed their restrictions while preserving their combat capabilities.
  • Xiao Ran approved Renard's plan and placed the Yajenar First Squadron under his command, warning him to prioritize the machines' safety.
  • Xiao Ran asked Luo for an update, and Luo described the completed modifications to Guren Gishin and Wild Bird and the nearly assembled Tactical Armor for Dawn and its four drones.
  • Luo detailed the prototype machine built for Basak, including its materials, energy sources, weapons, and transforming cloak and wing forms.

Ch. 1707Mazinger Kaiser

Xiao Ran, Renard, and Luo assessed the unfinished Mazinger Kaiser SKL and discussed why its combat power fell short of expectations. An unexplained disturbance shook the Burning Legion, and Luo sent Basak to test the machine while Xiao Ran and Renard went to investigate.

  • Luo explained that Mazinger Kaiser SKL was a half-finished machine with an upper Epic-level rating and an unresolved Mazinger Power black box.
  • Luo identified its weak joints and limited energy output as problems, while Xiao Ran urged her to study the Photon Power reactor with help from Renard, Minerva X, Nine, and others.
  • A rumbling sound shook the Burning Legion and set off alarms throughout the warship.
  • Xiao Ran told Luo to stay aboard and rest, then left with Renard to investigate the disturbance.
  • After they had gone, Luo contacted Basak and told him to take Mazinger Kaiser out for a test.

Ch. 1708A Shining Entrance

Xiao Ran arrived on the bridge as a stolen Getter-like super robot and a force of Mycenaean Gods threatened the True Science Fortress Research Institute and its fleet. Mwu sent the fleet’s machines to sortie, revealing their upgrades as the attackers drew near.

  • Xiao Ran and Renard hurried onto the bridge, where the screens showed a giant Getter-like creation facing Metal Beasts and Mycenaean Gods attacking the research institute.
  • Mwu told Xiao Ran that an unknown enemy had seized the robot from the True Science Fortress Research Institute and that the Mycenaean Gods had returned seeking revenge.
  • Mwu issued sortie orders while the research institute struggled to explain how the robot had broken free of its restraints.
  • Mazinger Z, Getter Emperor, Getter Robo, experimental Mazinger Kaiser, and the fleet’s machines launched to meet the threats.
  • Xiao Ran’s upgraded machines deployed, including a GN-BIT-armored Gundam Pirates, a rebuilt Z Gundam, and a heavily armored ZZ Gundam.

Ch. 1709Unreasonable

  • Hayato and Tetsuya identified the robot as Getter Dragon, an ultimate machine built to travel through dimensions and between worlds.
  • Dr. Saotome appeared inside Getter Dragon, revealed that he had returned, and challenged Ryoma Nagare over who deserved to wield the Getter Ray.
  • Ryoma Nagare vowed to defeat Dr. Saotome for Musashi, and Getter Robo charged Getter Dragon but was knocked away by its stronger attack.
  • Hayato questioned whether Dr. Saotome had truly been parasitized by the invaders, while Dr. Saotome called for the Getter Ray to kill them.
  • Ryoma Nagare rallied the power of Getter Robo and their united hearts as Xiao Ran watched from the Burning Legion and called the scene absurd.

Ch. 1711The Final Step

Xiao Ran questioned Full Frontal about his identity while Getter Robo battled Dr. Saotome’s Getter Dragon. After Getter Robo proved its strength, Dr. Saotome merged with the Getter Rays to complete Getter Dragon’s final step.

  • Xiao Ran asked Full Frontal why he had come and whether he had accepted his identity, then said they would talk after the battle.
  • Getter Robo and Getter Dragon’s beams collided, and Ryoma Nagare drew on the Getter Fleet’s power to push Getter Dragon back.
  • Dr. Saotome acknowledged that Ryoma and the others had surpassed him and said he would merge with the Getter Rays to witness humanity’s evolution.
  • Ryoma Nagare thanked Dr. Saotome as the doctor began to disappear.
  • Dr. Saotome praised Kabuto and Yumi, then merged completely with the Getter Rays and completed Getter Dragon’s final step.

  • Kei and Gai confirmed to Benkei that they were piloting Getter Dragon with Go.
  • Xiao Ran ordered the Victory Fleet to finish the battle, prepare its ships, and give everyone a chance to say goodbye before the Zeon people arrived.
  • The Victory Fleet destroyed the Mycenaean Gods and Metal Beast monsters.
  • Full Frontal met Xiao Ran, who told him that Char had been a different person and that Full Frontal could choose his own life.
  • Xiao Ran invited Full Frontal to join the Victory Fleet, and Full Frontal accepted.

Ch. 1713Hope Gathered from Three Worlds

Xiao Ran led the Victory Fleet as it departed for Iskandar to obtain the Universe Restoration System and save three worlds from destruction. As the fleet prepared to open a path through the dimensional wall, people and ships from across the worlds gathered to support its mission.

  • Full Frontal joined the Victory Fleet, transferred the Sinanju, and informed Minerva before the fleet completed its preparations.
  • Xiao Ran rallied the fleet and ordered it to depart, while Dragon God Aura promised to protect Earth and help the fleet reach a suitable location.
  • Ruri Hoshino used a Boson Jump to send the Victory Fleet into space, where Bright and other captains voiced their determination to reach Iskandar.
  • Ships and supporters from the Western Calendar World and another world gathered to witness the fleet's departure.
  • Kodai Susumu charged the Wave Cannon, Go sensed humanity's hopes, and Xiao Ran ordered the fleet to fire and prepare for another Boson Jump.

Ch. 1714Gamillas Across the Entire Galaxy

After the Victory Fleet crossed into the New Chronology World, Xiao Ran ordered reconnaissance and inspections while asking Melda Ditz about Gamillas. Melda described the empire’s vast reach and authoritarian rule, then Xiao Ran asked her to explain Iskandar as the fleet prepared for possible contact with Gamillas.

  • Xiao Ran ordered the ships to scout and guard the surrounding area, determine their coordinates, and inspect themselves.
  • Sanada summoned Melda Ditz to Yamato’s bridge so the fleet could question her about Gamillas and Iskandar.
  • Melda explained that Gamillas ruled the Great Magellan Nebula and that its advance fleet sent to the Milky Way had been only a small reconnaissance force.
  • Melda described President Desla’s authoritarian rule, resistance groups, and the empire’s vast military, warning that the Victory Fleet could be overwhelmed if discovered.
  • Xiao Ran asked whether the fleet could face repeated Gamillas attacks throughout the galaxy, and Melda agreed that it was likely.
  • Xiao Ran asked Melda to explain Iskandar, and she had not yet answered.

Ch. 1715Twin Stars

Melda revealed that Iskandar and Gamillas were twin stars, though Iskandar remained independent of Gamillas. The fleet resolved to continue toward Iskandar and secure the Cosmic Restoration System despite the danger posed by Gamillas’s forces.

  • Melda explained that Iskandar and Gamillas were twin stars and that Iskandar held a sacred place in Gamillasian belief.
  • Captain Sanada and the Yamato crew reacted with shock, and Xiao Ran insisted that the fleet still had to obtain the Cosmic Restoration System for the three worlds.
  • Melda clarified that Iskandar did not belong to Gamillas and that President Desla could not control Queen Starsha.
  • Lacus urged the fleet to keep faith in the Iskandarians and their mission, and Ruri Hoshino affirmed that they would overcome every obstacle.
  • Miss Huang suggested that dissenting Gamillasians might help the fleet, while Xiao Ran argued that the Victory Fleet could overcome Gamillas’s military advantage.

Ch. 1716Confirming the Location

Xiao Ran reassured the Victory Fleet about its strength while warning that Gedim and its unknown allied team were greater concerns than Gamillas. After confirming they had returned to the New Chronology World near the Great Magellan Galaxy, he ordered the fleet onward and explained that Melda could not leave to return to Gamillas, though the fleet would help restore her former captain’s reputation.

  • Xiao Ran told the captains that the Victory Fleet could overcome Gamillas and should focus more on Gedim and the powerful unknown team accompanying it.
  • Sanada confirmed that the fleet had returned to the New Chronology World and was at the edge of the Great Magellan Galaxy.
  • Xiao Ran ordered the fleet to set off, warning that they had at most four months to reach Iskandar, return to Earth, and confront their enemies.
  • Melda asked to leave the ship and return to Gamillas, but Xiao Ran refused because her return could expose the fleet and put her at risk.
  • Xiao Ran promised that the Victory Fleet would help restore the reputation of Melda’s former captain.

Ch. 1717Super Long-Range Jump System

Xiao Ran refused Melda's request to leave and followed the Yamato's Automatic Navigation System to an unexpected destination. The Victory Fleet arrived at a gigantic jump structure, which Sanada identified as a Super Long-Range Space Jump system.

  • Xiao Ran rejected Melda's request to leave because her departure could endanger her and reveal the Victory Fleet's position.
  • The Yamato's Automatic Navigation System plotted a route to a nearby location that did not lead directly to Iskandar.
  • Xiao Ran agreed with Sanada to investigate the route, and the Victory Fleet prepared for a Boson Space Jump.
  • The Victory Fleet jumped to the destination indicated by the system and found an enormous ring-shaped structure.
  • Sanada recognized the structure as a system capable of Super Long-Range Space Jumps.

Ch. 1718Space Gate

  • Sanada told Xiao Ran that the Space Gate could likely be used, but its destination was unknown until they entered the satellite and investigated.
  • Xiao Ran ordered the fleet to guard the Space Gate and sent Basak and Luo to assist Sanada’s team.
  • Basak and Luo escorted Sanada, Kodai Susumu, and Yuki Mori into the satellite, where they found its facilities mostly inactive and the interior apparently abandoned.
  • Luo and Sanada discussed the satellite’s ancient origins and the Space Gate’s research value.
  • Basak pointed out a single path leading deeper into the satellite and went ahead to scout it.

Ch. 1719Hypnosis Gas

After the Yamato fell silent, Xiao Ran and Saki Maski discovered that Hypnosis Gas had incapacitated its crew and rushed aboard to secure the ship. Saki woke the bridge crew while Xiao Ran headed for the engine room, leaving the infiltration and the crew’s condition unresolved.

  • The Red Robot Analyst alerted Xiao Ran that it could not determine why the Yamato had gone silent, and Xiao Ran ordered the fleet to approach.
  • Xiao Ran and Saki Maski flew to the Yamato, entered through its launch hatch, and learned that Hypnosis Gas filled the ship.
  • Xiao Ran sent Saki to the bridge and ran toward the engine room, where he found two unconscious Yamato staff members.
  • Xiao Ran woke one staff member, ordered him to purify the air and rouse the crew, and continued toward the engine room.
  • Saki reached the bridge and woke its unconscious personnel, who asked what had happened.

Ch. 1720Engine Room

Xiao Ran reached the Yamato's engine room and found Nine and Second Lieutenant Yuriya Misaki, while most of the crew remained unconscious and the Wave Motion Engine had been shut down. A hostile spiritual entity named Milene Link revealed that she could manipulate the crew, and Xiao Ran moved to confront her as he questioned Misaki's identity and knowledge.

  • Xiao Ran entered the engine room and found Nine and Second Lieutenant Yuriya Misaki, who told him the crew was unconscious and could not be awakened.
  • Xiao Ran sensed an unusual presence in Misaki and detected an invisible spiritual entity behind her as Misaki observed that the Wave Motion Engine had been stopped.
  • Milene Link materialized and admitted she could use mental attacks to manipulate the unconscious crew and make the Yamato self-destruct.
  • Misaki identified Link as a Girel descendant of Akrias and deduced that she had used the Ruins to infiltrate the crew's minds.
  • Xiao Ran unleashed his Brainwaves and Mental Power to lock onto Link, declaring that her abilities were too weak to threaten him.
