Doctor Bian glanced at Xiao Ran in surprise, while Shirakawa Shuu gave Xiao Ran a similar look. Only now did the other DC executives react, letting out soft cries of surprise before leaning together and whispering among themselves.
Doctor Bian said, "Perhaps I understand a little better now why every threat you encountered ultimately ended in peace."
Xiao Ran smiled faintly. "This was not my achievement alone, nor was I the main reason. There are quite a few Evolvers in my forces who have developed in a direction similar to mine. If you possess similar mental abilities, such as Psychokinetists, it should be possible to establish direct mental contact, somewhat like making a phone call—though certainly not quite the same."
Doctor Bian nodded. "But don't you think that showing me this will only deepen my suspicion that you are aliens?"
Xiao Ran spread his hands. "You will make your own judgment on that. Besides, I do not need others to judge whether I am human. If I know I am, then I am. I represent a faction, one that hopes to obtain a territory of its own here to rest and rebuild. To achieve that goal, we would prefer to avoid unnecessary complications, because we have already experienced enough war. But that does not mean I fear an unavoidable war."
Doctor Bian fell silent. Based on the power Xiao Ran had displayed so far, just a handful of people had wiped out the Steel Dragon Squad's true fighting strength. If Doctor Bian and Shirakawa Shuu became serious, they might be able to do the same. Yet Xiao Ran had, with the power of a single unit, overwhelmed half of Hades Island's defensive forces and defeated every member of the Hagane.
What was even more unbelievable was that throughout the entire
