Chapter 1218
Luo had been one of Xiao Ran's earliest followers. Perhaps because he was a Prometheus participant, or perhaps because of his past as a junk dealer, Luo's mecha designs were heavily influenced by a grand, all-encompassing romantic ideal and a pursuit of versatility. He was especially, especially concerned with Xiao Ran's safety while piloting.
This resulted in a mecha with fairly balanced capabilities in every respect, one that could at least handle all kinds of possible situations. He would install any Defense System he could get his hands on. Good technology and good materials—so long as Xiao Ran could use them, he wished he could pile them all onto Xiao Ran's mecha. It had speed, defense, attack power, and burst potential. That was not much of an issue for a B-class Mecha, where the performance range was not particularly broad, but for an A-class mecha, it meant having every capability while not having enough of any of them.
A-Class Pilots varied enormously. There were even distinctions such as true A-class and pseudo-A-class pilots with different traits. Naturally, the mecha suited to their abilities would likewise vary more greatly in both specialization and performance range. Continuing to design A-class mecha according to the previous grand and all-encompassing philosophy was clearly inappropriate.
Of course, there were mecha with decent adaptability. Destiny Gundam was an excellent example. Yet Destiny Gundam itself was less nimble in movement than Infinite Justice, less richly equipped in firepower than Strike Freedom, and while it used the same technology to reach an equal level of speed, it still lagged behind Strike Freedom somewhat in flexibility and mobility. It could crush lower-level enemies, but once it faced Kira and Athrun, it would struggle.
Naturally, the pilot also played a part in this. But if a mecha could
