A Tour
Hearing Yuzes's words, Xiao Ran merely smiled faintly. "Not necessarily. Do you know how you got into this cell?"
Xiao Ran's question stunned Yuzes. Without waiting for an answer, Xiao Ran continued, "You probably don't know this, but at least a week has passed since we last met. You walked in here and lay down on that bed yourself. You were completely cooperative, without the slightest bit of coercion. So I think that even without the helmet, it isn't impossible for you to leave this cell."
"Oh, right. I also know all about the laboratory you set up in the Federation, the clones, the new machines, and the Perfect Species you were researching for fusion. I've already sent my people to take over the entire place. I should thank you for doing so much work for me in advance."
Yuzes's pupils contracted. He suddenly recalled what Xiao Ran had told him before he lost consciousness—the special abilities possessed by those unusual lifeforms called demon envoys. Yuzes believed that a long time really had passed since their "last" meeting, but throughout that entire period, he had possessed no awareness whatsoever. He did not know what he had done or said, nor could he be sure whether his memories had been stolen. All of it left Yuzes feeling utterly uncertain.
Xiao Ran narrowed his eyes. "I told you that if you refused to cooperate, your body would become a vessel for one of my demon envoys. It would also become an excellent sample for the Gene Research Institution under my command. So I believe you will still be able to leave this place. I just can't guarantee that the one who comes out will still be the you of today."
Yuzes took a deep breath. After a moment of silence,
