After the battle ended, the Victory Fleet's warships, including the Burning Legion, passed through a massive entrance and descended beneath Tokyo-3, entering an enormous underground space so vast it was almost unbelievable.
Though it was merely an underground space, not only was its ceiling height astonishing, but its area was unimaginably vast as well. Countless green plants covered the ground, and together with NERV Headquarters' pyramid-like structure, it felt as though they had entered a secluded paradise.
It was said that this place lay a great distance beneath the surface, which was why such an enormous space contained not a single support pillar while still bearing the weight of Tokyo-3 built directly above it.
However, Xiao Ran also learned from Vice Commander Fuyutsuki, who was leading the way, that this enormous underground space was actually the true Tokyo-3. Countless buildings throughout Third Tokyo City could descend into this space whenever battle broke out.
When Xiao Ran and the others followed Vice Commander Fuyutsuki through the commander's office doors, they found an empty room roughly half the size of a football field. Yet aside from a desk and the person seated behind it, there was absolutely nothing inside.
This bizarre commander's office surprised nearly everyone following behind Xiao Ran, except for Xiao Ran himself, who had already had some idea of what this place was like. After all, staying in such a vast, empty office for long would hardly be comfortable.
When Gendo Ikari saw Xiao Ran and the others enter, he first adjusted his yellow glasses before standing up directly. He took the initiative to greet them, and once he reached Xiao Ran, extended his white-gloved right hand. "Hello. I am Gendo Ikari, commander of NERV.
