I was tired. Really, really tired. I always felt like I had been tired ever since this period began, and perhaps I would remain tired for some time longer. Maybe I would even keep feeling tired every now and then forever. It was not physical exhaustion, though. With my current body, if I were truly tired enough that I could not move, honestly, neither I nor any of you would believe it. Mentally, I was not all that tired either. In fact, I was very satisfied with my life now. Every task I took on involved things I loved most. By all rights, I should have been enjoying myself.
Of course, I was not tired all the time. It was the kind of fatigue that came and went, the kind that might hit me for a while at any moment. But it was not frequent. When I had nothing to do, I could fool around and do whatever I wanted. What I liked most, naturally, was researching my favorite Mechanical Technology and other robot-related technologies. When I was not tired, I could research whenever I wanted and for as long as I wanted. I could also spare more time for something else: cultivating the inheritance my teacher had given me.
But when the fatigue set in, everything felt different. I was still doing work involving the Mechanical Technology I loved most, yet suddenly, a huge number of tasks would all land on my shoulders. Then I could no longer do whatever I wanted or research however I pleased. Instead, I had to work nonstop and produce results in the shortest possible time.
There was no time to slack off during that process. I had to devote myself completely to the work, pick out the most suitable possibilities from countless technological
