Chapter 1835: Conquest
One battle was enough for Char to conquer almost everyone on the front lines. The base had barely arrived at the front when it encountered a BETA attack, as though everything had been arranged in advance, as though the BETA had appeared specifically for Char's arrival. They had shown up solely to make Char seem stronger and more mysterious, lining up to be destroyed by him and elevate his status and authority.
Not long after the battle ended, Char and his Tactical Fighter, which was already on the verge of collapse, were sent back to the support base behind the front lines. The true front line did not have the capability to fully maintain every Tactical Fighter. Small numbers and minor issues could receive emergency repairs, but for Tactical Fighter units of any real scale, the front line alone was insufficient for full maintenance.
Thus, the frontline positions generally did not have proper Tactical Fighter hangars. All Tactical Fighter units were stationed at the frontline support base behind them, or at the even farther rear frontline base with a port and an extremely long name.
Before arriving at that frontline base with the long name, Char had already learned a little about the situation there.
The long-named frontline base Char's group had initially headed for was actually only one component of the entire front: a large transit base behind the anti-BETA defensive line, a major air base, a major garrison, and the main base. Whenever combat missions arose, Tactical Fighters and air force units would depart from there for the front. Given the BETA's marching speed, units leaving from there could still arrive when battle began, so calling it the front line was not inaccurate.
However, the defensive line farther ahead—the one Char had fought on—was the
