(I was sleeping this afternoon. I was exhausted.)
The location Zengar had chosen was a city humanity had already abandoned. Ruined walls and shattered buildings lay everywhere, but so did BETA. What should have been a place for humans to live had become a paradise for the BETA, countless creatures moving through its streets and devouring everything of value.
It was not until Zengar led his team into the abandoned city that the BETA within seemed to be startled. They all turned toward Zengar's team at once, then charged straight at them, like they had kicked a hornet's nest.
"Enter the streets." Zengar gave another simple order. "This city is your training ground. You have already conducted this kind of virtual drill many times. I do not require you to wipe out every BETA in this city, but each of you must eliminate no fewer than five hundred BETA. Type does not matter. Since we do not know whether there are any Beam Types, watch your altitude and make use of cover. More importantly, pay attention to coordination. Remember, you are one unit."
"Understood." Male and female voices rang out over the squad communications channel. Naturally, the women's voices nearly drowned out the men's, since there were more of them.
Very soon, the thirteen units piloted by the tactical squad passed directly over Zengar. Led by Miyoshi Meiya, they split into three teams and formed a wedge formation. Meiya's team at the front led four units, while the two teams on either side each had four units.
The members within each team coordinated with one another, maintaining a steady speed and firing rhythm as they eliminated every BETA that appeared before them. The teams also worked closely together. The wedge formation allowed any team to support the other two immediately,
