The Earth Alliance was beside itself over PLANT and Orb's declaration, and its hatred for Orb had practically soared into the heavens. Only now did the Alliance realize that although Orb had not openly participated in its war with PLANT, it had been constantly making moves in the shadows and had thoroughly screwed them over.
It was like the development of the G Series. They had invested so much over the course of an entire year, only for someone else to sweep it all away in one fell stroke, leaving nothing behind. Forget the resources they had invested—the lost time was something they could never reclaim.
Many within the Earth Alliance had poured tremendous effort into the G Series project and regarded it as the medicine that would bring the Alliance back from the brink. Yet they never expected that the carefully brewed medicine of the past year would turn out to be nothing more than a batch of ineffective drugs. By the time the G Series had been developed, the world's MS technology seemed to have already advanced into the next generation. The pace of development was so fast that even the Alliance's upper ranks could not make sense of it.
But even ineffective medicine could at least prolong the Alliance's life. If the G Series units could be mass-produced and equipped on a large scale, their strength would still improve. As long as they piled up enough numbers, they could greatly ease the pressure caused by inferior quality.
Yet in the end, the Alliance did not even have the ineffective medicine anymore. The so-called Apocalypse Unit, formed by Orb and PLANT, had snatched it away from them. This was clearly cutting off their roots and forcing them to die.
In fact, half of the Alliance's roots had already
