By the time Xiao Ran left the Presidential Palace, he had changed into a UNION uniform and put on his new white mask. He boarded the helicopter waiting outside and flew toward the nearest military base, where he would transfer to a Transport Aircraft bound for the Japanese Special Economic Zone.
However, Xiao Ran did not head straight to the military base. He got off the helicopter about twenty minutes' flight away from it. The area was a desolate canyon wilderness, riddled with massive cracks. After getting off, Xiao Ran ordered the helicopter to leave on its own. Though the two pilots assigned to escort him were puzzled, they could only follow his orders. Once the helicopter took off, it quickly vanished beyond the horizon.
Standing amid the canyon wilderness, Xiao Ran looked around before walking toward a huge fissure. Reaching its edge, he looked down and saw that it was spacious and shielded by rock walls. Nodding in satisfaction, he jumped down along the edge. With his current physical condition, a drop of around twenty meters posed no problem at all, and there were plenty of footholds along the rock face to break his descent. Less than a minute later, Xiao Ran reached the bottom of the fissure.
