Glatters envoy Vite came again, but this time Xiao Ran did not receive him in the Council Hall. Instead, he chose noon and met Vite in the back garden of the Frie Kingdom on Earth. It was less formal, but considerably more relaxed.
Xiao Ran had originally been admiring the flowers in the back garden with Shanamia. When he saw Vite appear, he smiled casually at the man, patted Shanamia's hand, and led her over to the already prepared dining table.
Raising a hand, Xiao Ran said, "Envoy Vite, please sit."
Vite looked at Xiao Ran, then at the surroundings. He nodded and sat down without a word. Though only a little over a meter separated him from Xiao Ran, he sat there properly and obediently. The setting looked relaxed, but Vite was extremely tense inside.
Xiao Ran sensed his tension but did not try to reassure him. He merely said, "You requested this meeting, so you should have an answer. There's no rush for that. Eat first."
Xiao Ran smiled. Aside from the mask concealing his true appearance, the lower half of his face was mild and amiable. He did not look like a figure who could destroy a planet at a whim. Perhaps Vite also sensed Xiao Ran's friendly attitude, because his tension eased slightly. He nodded and began eating slowly after the attendants brought out the food.
