Perhaps because she had suffered some unknown blow deep down, Tessa suddenly reined in all her embarrassment and turned to Xiao Ran with a serious expression. She even brought up Mithril's intention to take over Chidori's guardianship.
"I'm afraid that won't be possible." Xiao Ran did not reject her too harshly, merely saying gently, "There is no need to explain Chidori's importance. Even if she were with Mithril, she would receive excellent protection, and no one could harm her under your protection. But I absolutely will not allow Chidori to leave my control. There is no room for negotiation on that."
Their conversation completely ignored the opinion of Chidori, the person directly concerned. Or rather, in a situation like this, Chidori had no opportunity to voice her own opinion at all, and no one would have taken it seriously anyway.
Xiao Ran's tone was gentle, but the meaning behind it was beyond question. There was not the slightest room for compromise. Chidori could only remain under the control of the Burning Legion. There was no second possibility or choice.

Since Xiao Ran had said no, there was truly nothing Tessa could do. Though from the standpoint of a friend, she genuinely hoped Chidori could be protected by Mithril. At least then Chidori would be happier.
After being refused, Tessa did not dwell on the matter any further, lest she needlessly worsen Xiao Ran's impression of her and make him think she was unreasonable, overly persistent, and immature. She decisively changed the subject.
"May I know how
