Mr. Giliam's research team was not at Homeland Fortress. Instead, they had detached from the fortress as a separate module and relocated to the Moon to conduct their work. They were worried that the research process might inadvertently establish contact with other worlds. Worst of all, if some strange and dangerous things came through from those worlds, staying far away from the fortress would minimize the losses. Those losses meant damage to the homeland, after all. At the very least, they could not let enemies emerge from inside their homeland.
At the very least, if an evacuation became necessary, the personnel could be evacuated in the shortest possible time. They could climb into Escape Pods and be launched out with a whoosh, where dedicated patrol fleets would recover them while combat forces held the line. The safety measures were solid.
The Gene Research Department and Technology Department had already produced some results, but progress on Giliam's side could only be described as proceeding step by step.
When Xiao Ran entered their testing grounds, he saw Chidori Kaname seated in a specially made chair, wearing something like a helmet on her head and connected to numerous devices whose functions he did not know. They were not modifying Chidori in any way. This was a special experiment, analyzing readings to determine the precise coordinates for a jump or something similar.
Xiao Ran did not interrupt Giliam and the others' experiment. He waited outside until it was finished, and only then did Giliam, dressed in a white lab coat, come over to him. Behind him, a group of people were helping Chidori Kaname down from the chair.
Giliam knew why Xiao Ran had come without needing him to say it. He took off his lab coat, made coffee for both himself and Xiao
