Chapter 2592: Perish Together
The three of them arrived at the massive building on New Island. Led by Nurse Joy, who was under Mewtwo's control, they entered a grand hall. After that, nothing happened, since they still had to wait for the other Trainers to arrive. There was plenty of food and drink, though, and Xiao Ran settled in comfortably, leisurely waiting for Mewtwo to appear.
Xiao Ran's group had arrived first. They had rested for quite a while before the second Trainer showed up. When that Trainer saw Xiao Ran, he froze for a moment, seemingly never expecting someone to have arrived before him.
Unlike in the original story, though, Ash Ketchum's group was not in such a sorry state when they arrived with the help of Kanna's Pokémon. The three of them rode on Lapras's back, and although they had weathered some wind and rain, they appeared before Xiao Ran without any real danger.
Including Xiao Ran's group and Ash Ketchum's group, only five teams of Trainers had arrived on New Island in total. Three of those teams were independent Trainers.
What happened next was not much different from the original plot. Mewtwo descended in a pillar of light, then began provoking everyone present, declaring itself to be both the strongest Pokémon and the strongest Trainer. It harshly taught a rather impulsive Trainer a lesson, claiming that Pokémon did not need Trainers at all, until Pikachu stepped forward and protested with a series of "Pika, pika!"
Xiao Ran did not say a word throughout the entire process. Situ Yaoyao merely watched, while Kanna had already prepared herself to face Mewtwo at any moment and save the other Trainers.
When Mewtwo was about to attack Pikachu as well, Xiao Ran slowly rose from his chair and walked toward Mewtwo
