Cardias had been justified, in principle, in wanting to hand over the Box of Laplace, but they had failed to understand the current situation and were riddled with internal contradictions. With two enormous deadweights dragging them down, they had ultimately been dragged into a pit.
As for the Zeon remnants, Minerva, despite being a princess, was a little traitor. Not only had she never considered how to help the Zeon remnants gain greater advantages against the Federation, or make the Federation adopt the proper attitude toward the Zeon issue, she had instead tried every possible way to contact the Federation and sell out her own side. She even called it preventing a war. Did she not realize whether the Zeon remnants even had the qualifications to wage an outright war against the Federation? Londo Bell alone was enough to deal with the current Zeon remnants.
The ones who could truly see the situation clearly and grasp their own advantages were, instead, the most corrupt Federation. They knew exactly what the Box of Laplace represented. Sending forces to stop the transaction between the Bist Family and New Zeon was perfectly normal, but they did not seem to be taking the matter all that seriously.
Certainly, the Box of Laplace could serve as a protective talisman while it remained with the Bist Family. But once it was made public, how much use would it really have? After all, it was something from nearly a century ago. No one could prove it was real, and with a little manipulation of public opinion, the matter could easily be suppressed.
