Chapter 360: Target: Genesis
After detecting Genesis's second launch, Xiao Ran ordered the three warships to head once more toward the battlefield where ZAFT and the Earth Force had resumed fighting. They soon reached the edge of the battlefield. This battle between the Earth Force and ZAFT was even more tragic than the last; both sides were truly fighting for their lives.
Mutual destruction could be seen everywhere across the battlefield. More often, one side would destroy an enemy unit, only to be destroyed by another enemy unit in the blink of an eye.
Although Genesis's second attack had supposedly wiped out the Earth Force reinforcement fleet, that was not actually the case. Quite a number of warships had escaped disaster, though nearly all were damaged. After brief repairs, they too had rushed toward this area.
Genesis had directly destroyed only around fifty percent of that reinforcement fleet. The key, however, was that more than thirty percent of the ships in that fleet had been loaded with nuclear bombs. Their eventual detonation amplified the power of that light of annihilation, sweeping every nearby warship into it and ultimately causing this result. In a way, the Earth Force had brought part of this upon themselves.
The Earth Force had launched another offensive against ZAFT because reinforcements were about to arrive, even focusing their main attack on Genesis. But that single shot from Genesis had turned their support into a delusion and cast this Earth Force fleet in a tragic light.
Seated in the cockpit of the Lightning Aegis, Xiao Ran pushed the controls, and the Lightning Aegis launched directly from the Archangel's catapult. Behind it came Black Hawk, Black Astray, the Gundam MK-II, and drone after drone, followed by the Strike Gundam, the Buster Gundam, and the Blitz Gundam.
