El-Elf personally piloted Unit 3 and joined the salvage operation. He also brought Saki Maski along to recover the three Zakus. But then there would probably be nowhere left to store the recovered supplies and ammunition.
So if they wanted to avoid affecting the warship's normal operations, they had to make careful choices regarding everything they recovered.
