After grumbling to himself, Sasuke grew puzzled again, because he could not understand what Naruto was doing.
Dozens of Narutos before him kept plucking leaves from the trees and slapping them into their palms. Only one Naruto stood with his eyes closed, leaning against a distant tree and doing nothing. Before long, Sasuke saw shattered leaves scattered all over the ground.
Sasuke's heart tightened. This guy could actually create so many clones, and Naruto was clearly training, yet Sasuke could not make sense of any of it.
He was far too weak!
With that thought, Sasuke, who had been leaning against a stone platform, immediately formed Hand Seals and used the Shadow Clone Jutsu.

Seven Sasuke clones appeared where he stood.
"Damn it! Including the clone I sent to the academy earlier, my limit is only eight?!"

Sasuke still could not figure out how this guy trained. Thinking of how he had awakened the Sharingan and still could not defeat Naruto left him extremely frustrated.
What frustrated him even more was that Naruto had helped him awaken the Sharingan.
