Ghost Story

"How could there be a wave of ghostly aura inside the dormitory building? Aren't there a lot of cultivators here?"

Chong Ying walked between the floors. Her focused, sensitive sense of smell allowed her to detect an extremely faint trace of ghostly aura lingering in the corridors. The presence was so weak that, had Chong Ying not been concentrating so intensely, she would never have noticed it.

"This ghost dared to infiltrate an area closely watched by cultivators. Its abilities must be extraordinary. I'll notify Brother Zhang Chen once I make a major discovery..." Chong Ying had her own sources of information, and she wanted to do something tangible for Zhang Chen.

Apart from her white hair, which set her apart from the students here, Chong Ying looked like a delicate young girl, no different from a freshman who had just entered the university. Although her white hair drew plenty of attention, everyone merely regarded her as a rather unusual new student.

When Chong Ying followed the students returning from evening self-study to the fifth floor, the lingering ghostly aura no longer extended down the corridor. Instead, it led directly to one of the dorm rooms deep within the brightly lit fifth-floor hallway.

"Is it in one of the dorm rooms here?"

Pretending that she lived on the fifth floor, Chong Ying followed the faint trail step by step toward the depths of the lively dormitory corridor.

Inside the dorm room, Sister Ping continued telling her immersive ghost story.

"After Lan Xin returned to the dorm and opened the door with her key, she was surprised to find that the lights were still on and her roommates were all lying in bed playing on their phones."

"'I clearly called everyone earlier. Why were all their phones switched off then?'
