"The Reapers' reproductive organs gradually degenerate over the course of prolonged mutation and may eventually disappear completely. But that does not mean they could not reproduce before those organs degenerated."
Chang Wei reminded Tony and Banner not to overlook the complexity and diversity of life's evolution.
"Before degenerating and falling away, these Reapers may very well have left behind offspring through some unknown means. After all, reproduction—the most primitive and powerful instinct in the biological world—drives every life form to find a crack through which to continue its bloodline, even in adversity."
He continued, "And even if we assume that the Reapers' reproductive organs have completely degenerated, we cannot dismiss the possibility that they reproduce through other means. For example, could they propagate through some form of parasitic or symbiotic relationship? Or do they possess some special reproductive mechanism that allows them to reproduce even without reproductive organs?"
These questions exploded in Tony and Bruce Banner's minds like a string of bombs.
They realized that their understanding of the Reapers was still far from thorough. They had to intensify their research before they could find the key to stopping the spread of this mutation.
The Reaper variant vampires' standout trait in the Original Plot was their ability to ignore attacks from silver bullets and silver weapons. It was speculated that their excessively rapid metabolism allowed them to quickly metabolize and expel silver, a substance that should have been as lethal to them as poison and capable of triggering violent chemical and physiological reactions.
However, they still could not become immune to ultraviolet light, so it could only be called half a success. If the Vampires were allowed to continue their research, they might well use science to create a second-generation Reaper Virus that solved the ultraviolet problem.
"First, we need
