Spartan Demons were demons unafraid of holy water, Holy Light, or crosses.
They were also highly practical, and quite a few people had strengthened themselves with them. After all, it came from a hugely popular game enjoyed worldwide.
They possessed ultra-fast Rapid regeneration. Wounds from being pierced through by large weapons could heal in an instant, and even a gunshot to the head could be instantly recovered from. They were practically immortal, but if struck by a top-tier weapon like Yamato, they would lose a massive amount of stamina.
They could use demonic power in all sorts of ways. While suspended in midair, they could condense a foothold beneath their feet with demonic power to perform a Second Jump; they could condense flying Phantom Swords from demonic power; they could infuse bullets with demonic power to increase their destructive force.
They could also use demonic power to create clothing. Yes, Dante's clothes were made from demonic power too, which was why they could instantly recover no matter how often they were slashed or pierced.
The Sparda bloodline could directly seize the power of other demons. In Dante and Vergil's case, this manifested as turning defeated demons into Demon Weapons. In the fourth game, a Greater Demon feared Dante would turn it into a weapon, so it killed itself right in front of him.
That showed just how overbearing this ability was. Otherwise, it would not have driven a Greater Demon to suicide.
And if they wished, they could choose not to create a weapon and absorb that power directly into their bodies. Dante did this in the third game. After defeating the horse demon Geryon and the shadow demon companion Doppelganger, he directly absorbed their power and gained two new abilities.
