Just then, a familiar voice broke the silence in the darkness.
"Genesis, are you here?"
It was Angeal's voice.
Genesis turned around and saw Angeal anxiously searching for him.
A warm current rose in his heart, mixed with complicated emotions.
He didn't know how to face Angeal, much less how to face his own failure.
But he also knew that Angeal was his friend, one of the people he trusted most in this world.
He couldn't let his emotions affect their friendship.
So he took a deep breath and stepped out of the darkness.
"I'm here," he said quietly.
When Angeal saw him emerge, relief appeared on his face.
"Are you all right? I've been looking for you."
He said.
Angeal walked up to Genesis and looked him over from head to toe. Only after confirming that he had not suffered any serious injuries did he relax slightly.
"I know your feelings must be complicated right now, but, Genesis, you have to face reality."
There was a trace of sternness in Angeal's tone.
Genesis didn't say anything. He merely lowered his head in silence.
He knew Angeal was right. He had to accept this cruel reality.
But the resentment and unwillingness in his heart were like a raging fire, burning so fiercely that he could barely endure it.
"I know you're unwilling to accept it, but failure isn't frightening."
Angeal continued.
"What's frightening is being unable to accept failure, unable to learn from it."
Genesis raised his head and looked into Angeal's eyes.
He saw the determination and trust in Angeal's gaze, and it brought him a measure of comfort.
He knew Angeal was sincerely trying to help him, that he truly cared about him.
"I know you're right."
Genesis said softly.
"But my mind is a mess right now.
