Zack and Cloud cried out at the same time, staring at the two figures before them in disbelief. Sephiroth, once Shinra's hero and their idol, was now standing against them.

Zack's eyebrows drew tightly together. He simply could not understand what was happening. Chang Wei, the friend and comrade-in-arms with whom he had faced life-and-death trials, was also standing at Sephiroth's side.
"Why are you betraying Shinra?"
Zack's voice was filled with confusion and anger. Cloud and he were both elite SOLDIERs trained by Shinra Company, loyal to Shinra and believers in its ideals. Yet now, their faith seemed to have collapsed in an instant.
Sephiroth looked at the two of them, a complicated emotion flickering through his eyes.
He drew a deep breath before saying, "Zack, Cloud, Shinra Company is wrong. It should not continue to exist. We were once all Shinra's pawns, fighting for its interests. But now we have seen the truth. Shinra's ambition and greed have thrown this world into utter chaos. We must put an end to all this and fight for peace in this world."
