Kirei Kotomine paused, then continued, "Lancer's master hopes to obtain certification through the Holy Church and form a joint combat alliance with you. It's merely a proposal; the final decision remains in your hands."
"I also want to join forces against the head of the Tohsaka family," Illya said.
"But if you, as the supervisor, are interfering, then the nature of this changes. Are you trying to interfere with the Holy Grail War? Do you have some kind of scheme?"
Kirei Kotomine hurriedly waved his hands in denial. "No, no, no. I am truly only carrying out my duties as an overseer. I know you may have doubts, but please believe in the Holy Church's impartiality."
The Reincarnators on Illya's side naturally knew Kirei Kotomine's background inside out.
At that moment, a Reincarnator walked up beside Illya and said in a low voice, "Miss Illya, we have identified Lancer's master. It is Kirei Kotomine."
After choosing Illya's faction, the Lord God had helped these Reincarnators disguise their identities as "Magus" hired by the Einzbern family to assist Illya, similar to how Kiritsugu Emiya had once operated.
Only this time, Kiritsugu Emiya was not representing the Einzbern family. Illya took the lead, while these freelance magi served as support.
"Is that so?"
Illya had originally looked down on these freelance magi. Calling them freelance magi was the flattering term; less flatteringly, they were heretical magi—wild, self-taught practitioners.
But they did have their merits, so Illya had merely forbidden them from entering the courtyard and otherwise let them move about freely.
"The intelligence is accurate. We have already investigated it," the Reincarnator reaffirmed.
"So this man is both a supervisor from the Holy Church and a Master participating in the Holy Grail War?"
Illya looked at Kirei Kotomine.
"Yes."
The Reincarnator nodded.
