"Aitoken," Gongshu Feng suddenly said.
"Wha... what?" Chu Pu asked with all her strength. The moment she opened her mouth, she discovered that her voice was frighteningly hoarse.
"Aitoken Abyss—the name of this place." He did not mock the Yuheng Envoy's loss of composure. "Lord Xia said this was a meteor crater more than eighteen kilometers deep. Quite a few cities and towns in Qi State have been built atop this enormous pit. We will cross over it soon."
In that brief span of time, the bridge had already reached its end. This time, Chu Pu clearly saw the holes carved into the sheer cliff face. In truth, there was far more than one—looking out, she spotted at least a hundred circular openings. The largest could likely fit ten of the "rooms" she was riding in.
Then the breathtaking sight vanished. Darkness filled her vision once more, and the room returned to its previous state.
Gongshu Feng left his seat, then returned after a while. "Drink some of this. You'll feel better."
Chu Pu accepted the cup from his hand and found it filled with a warm liquid, murky in color and giving off a strange, faint fragrance.
Under normal circumstances, she would never have drunk something so peculiar—especially something offered by an "envoy from an enemy state." Yet at this moment, as if possessed, she took a sip.
Bitterness flooded her throat.
At first, it tasted almost exactly like medicine, but a rich, mellow sweetness soon followed.
That warm current gradually calmed her faintly trembling fingers.
"If your guards need it, I can pour them each a cup as well."
