"What? My nephew is dead?"
The Demon Shark King's eyes flew wide. He seized the Octopus King with both hands and stared fixedly into his eyes. "Old Octopus, say that again!"
The Coral King beside them also stared at the Octopus King's face, trying to tell whether he was lying.
Seeing his two good brothers looking at him with such suspicion, the Octopus King's expression turned extremely ugly. He said furiously:
"That was my son! The son I personally raised for over a hundred years—my future! My treasure!"
"How could I possibly joke about him? You both know perfectly well how much heart and soul I poured into him!"
"In all these hundred-odd years, have you ever seen me joke about him? Even once!"
"Not once!"
He roared that last sentence, his voice trembling, his body shaking, fire practically blazing from his eyes.
He was clearly enraged to the limit.
The Demon Shark King immediately realized something was wrong. Thinking of how precious the Octopus King considered his son, he hurriedly apologized:
"I'm sorry, Old Octopus. I was wrong. I shouldn't have doubted you. I wronged you!"
"My nephew has been murdered—who was so bold as to lay hands on him? Come, come, come! I'll help you get revenge right now!"
With that, he grabbed the Octopus King and was about to head toward the spatial rift.
But at that moment, the Coral King grabbed them both. "Don't rush off just yet. Old Octopus, wait a moment."
"No, Old Coral, what are you doing? Stalling for time? Delay any longer, and the enemy will be gone!"
"If the enemy gets away, how are we supposed to find him? How are we supposed to take revenge? Don't you want to avenge Old Octopus?"
The Demon Shark King spoke with obvious displeasure.
