"Hey, Kishua Zelretch Schweinorg, does the agreement between you and my ancestor still hold?"
The Jewel Old Man froze, looking at Rin in confusion.
"What agreement?"
"The Jewel Sword, of course. Didn't you leave a design blueprint for the Jewel Sword with my ancestor?"
The Jewel Old Man thought for a moment and finally remembered. Nagato Tohsaka, a disciple he had casually guided a few times in the Far East back then.
Because his personality was mediocre, cold-blooded, and somewhat irritable, he was single-mindedly pursuing a good future, even envisioning sacrificing himself. This had troubled the Jewel Old Man at the time, so he gave the Jewel Sword design blueprint to Nagato Tohsaka, who "lacked spiritual roots," as homework, hoping he would strive towards it. As for any talk of an agreement, that was entirely the overthinking of the Tohsaka family's descendants; it simply didn't exist.
The Jewel Old Man looked at the expectant Rin and sighed. 'Never mind, let's just pretend there was such an agreement.'
"Yes, there was such an agreement. As long as your Tohsaka family descendants can replicate the Jewel Sword, I will accept that person as my disciple."
Actually, Rin was also unclear about this matter in her past life memories. The story of the agreement came from Tokiomi Tohsaka. Hearing the 'truth' of the agreement now, she slowly breathed a sigh of relief. Although she knew most of the Jewel Old Man's disciples were, or would become, 'useless,' Rin, with the System as her backing, was a little worried. However, facing a readily available powerhouse, she decided to latch onto it first.
With a flash of mana in her hand, the Jewel Sword previously bestowed by the Jewel Old Man, along with Rin's own replica, appeared in her hands. Rin respectfully handed the Jewel Sword to the Jewel Old Man. After he took it, she performed the disciple's bow and shouted.
"Master!"
The Jewel Old Man took both Jewel Swords and casually slashed the air with the replica Rin had made. Space seemed to be cut open, and an incision appeared in the air.
Then, sensing Rin's thoughts, the Jewel Old Man spoke to her.
"Alright, Rin Tohsaka, I permit you to consider yourself my disciple from now on. If you don't want to be ruined, besides today, it's best not to seek me out. Stay far away when you see me, understand?"
Rin nodded at the Jewel Old Man. Internally, she thought, I don't want to become 'useless' like most of your disciples. This is for the best. I only want the title of your disciple anyway.
The Jewel Old Man casually tossed both Jewel Swords back to Rin and then looked out the window.
"Since there's still plenty of time, I'll give you some pointers. Rin, you can ask any questions you have now, but remember my warning."
Kotomine Kirei and Waver exchanged glances. Although Waver's plan had been disrupted, it seemed a better outcome had emerged. They watched as the Jewel Old Man prepared to guide Rin in the hall, greeted him, and then left the room, remaining in the corridor to prevent anyone from disturbing Rin's opportunity.
At the Clock Tower's Department of Law and Politics, Bartholomello Lorelei, leading her guard, forcefully kicked open the door and entered the office. Bartholomello Lorelei scanned the room and saw her uncle, Bartholomello Charles, sitting blankly in the main seat, and the head of the Yurifis family, Yurifis, sitting beside her uncle. A disdainful smile touched her lips.
Lorelei walked to the desk in front of Charles and forcefully slammed her riding crop onto the table. She then asked Charles, who was startled, "Do you have the document to detain Rin Tohsaka?"
Bartholomew Charles recovered himself, glanced at Yurifis, who was signaling him, and felt reassured. He slammed the table back and shouted indignantly.
"Bartholomew Lorelei! Do you still respect me as your uncle? You get out of here and knock on the door!"
Bartholomew Lorelei cast a contemptuous glance at her uncle, then fixed her gaze on Yurifis.
"I am here today as the Clock Tower's Dean's Assistant and current Grand Marshal of Magic to retrieve the document for detaining Rin Tohsaka. And Bartholomew Charles, don't forget, I am now the head of the Bartholomello family!"
Yurifis looked at his old friend, who was about to say something more, and shook his head at Charles.
"Charles, give it to her. Lorelei, I don't know what promises those democratic faction guys made to you, but don't forget you are also a Bartholomello and part of the aristocratic faction."
Lorelei glanced at Yurifis, took the document Charles handed over, and left the Department of Law and Politics without looking back, her guards following.
"What promises could those democratic faction guys make to that girl? Nothing more than Dead Apostles. A little girl who doesn't understand politics! I really don't know why Big Brother passed the family headship to her at this time!"
Yurifis heard his old friend's complaint and shook his head. His old friend seemed to have forgotten they were Magus, and for Magus, power ultimately spoke.
At the El-Melloi faction's headquarters, Kotomine Kirei, waiting outside the room of Rin and the Jewel Old Man, frowned as he saw a servant running over in a panic. He looked displeasured at the servant and asked, "What's with the rush?"
"My Lord, this is terrible! The Grand Marshal of Magic is leading the Choir Clone Brigade and intends to force their way into the manor."
"Bartholomew Lorelei! Did they present any documents?"
"My Lord, there is a detention document signed by the Department of Law and Politics."
Kotomine Kirei turned to look at Waver beside him, signaling Waver to wait here. Then, ignoring the servant, he walked towards the outside of the castle with a deeply furrowed brow.
Chapter 59 Chapter Fifty-Eight: Clock Tower Journey - Let's Duel!
In front of the El-Melloi faction's manor.
Lainas, leading a group of servants and Mercury Dolls, was in a tense standoff with the Choir Clone Brigade led by Bartholomello Lorelei.
"Head of Bartholomello, our El-Melloi faction is hosting distinguished guests. Please return."
"Rin Tohsaka, I must detain her today. Are you El-Melloi really going to oppose me for her sake?"
Lainas, facing the overbearing Bartholomello Lorelei, was not worried at all. She giggled, covering her mouth.
"Grand Marshal Lorelei, I don't care about Rin Tohsaka or not. I only know that you absolutely cannot take any guest from the El-Melloi family today."
Bartholomew Lorelei's eyes flashed with anger upon hearing Lainas's words. She beckoned to the Choir behind her and commanded, "Attack! Anyone who obstructs us will be considered an enemy."
Just then, Kotomine Kirei also arrived at the gate. Seeing the magical energy glowing on both sides of the confrontation, he waved his left hand, and several Mercury Dolls transformed into a wall, separating the two groups.
"Stop!"
Lainas saw Kotomine Kirei arrive, signaled her subordinates to stop, and then stood behind Kotomine Kirei.
The Choir members maintained their magical readiness, simultaneously looking at Lorelei's back, awaiting her next command.
"Is Bartholomello declaring war on our El-Melloi faction?"
Bartholomello Lorelei glanced dismissively at Kotomine Kirei.
Indeed, Bartholomello Lorelei had the standing to do so. As the "pinnacle of contemporary magi," Bartholomello Lorelei could resolve the entire El-Melloi lineage on her own if she wished.
Facing Lorelei's disdainful gaze, the proud Kotomine Kirei did not become angry. Maintaining his noble elegance, he questioned Lorelei.
"Do you truly wish to plunge the Clock Tower into civil war?"
Faced with Kotomine Kirei's repeated questioning, Lorelei couldn't help but hesitate. While Lorelei was undoubtedly at the apex of magi, when it came to politics, how could a mere sixteen-year-old stand against these old foxes? Completely unaware of the undercurrents between the various factions in this incident, Lorelei, who had been hastily put forward by Bartholomello, spoke with a troubled tone upon hearing Kotomine Kirei's talk of civil war.
"I have no intention of starting a civil war. However, Kotomine Kirei, no matter what, I must take Rin Tohsaka with me today!"
An aged voice interrupted the conversation between Kotomine Kirei and Lorelei.
"Oh, you insist on taking my disciple?"
Lorelei's pupils contracted as she looked towards the source of the voice. A door materialized out of thin air, and the Jewel Old Man emerged from it, bringing Rin Tohsaka with him.
"Grand Marshal of Magic!"
Just moments ago, after guiding Tohsaka, the Jewel Old Man, to Tohsaka's bewildered gaze, produced a grimoire. The grimoire then flipped through its pages under the Jewel Old Man's manipulation, and a magically formed door appeared in the air.
"Rin, come with me. Someone wants to see you."
Tohsaka, not understanding, stared blankly as the Jewel Old Man turned and walked through the door, before hesitantly following.
Passing through the door summoned by the Jewel Old Man, Tohsaka felt her vision brighten. Subsequently, Tohsaka shielded her eyes from the sunlight, realizing she had followed the Jewel Old Man to the manor's entrance.
Kotomine Kirei and Lainas approached Tohsaka and nodded at her.
"Don't worry, Rin. With me and my brother here, no one will arrest you."
"Wait, Lainas, what's going on? I'm completely lost right now."
Lorelei also noticed Rin Tohsaka's arrival and flicked her riding crop.
"Seize her!"
"Little girl, are you sure you want to take my disciple?"
Lorelei looked at the Jewel Old Man blocking Rin Tohsaka and knew she couldn't take Rin Tohsaka away, no matter what. Taking a deep breath, she produced a handkerchief and threw it directly at Rin Tohsaka.
"In that case, Rin Tohsaka, I, the head of Bartholomello, the next Dean of the Clock Tower, the Grand Marshal of Magic, hereby challenge you to a duel!"
Tohsaka saw the serious expressions of those around her after Lorelei issued the challenge and asked, not understanding.
"What's wrong? Why are you all suddenly so tense? I don't have to duel her, right?"
The Jewel Old Man patted Tohsaka's shoulder and explained.
"Lorelei, that little girl, you cannot refuse her duel invitation. Refusing would be seen as disrespecting the Bartholomello family, making you their sworn enemy. If they seek revenge later, no one will be able to intervene."
"How can it be like this?" Tohsaka knew very well who the Lorelei, dressed in a white riding outfit with her hair in a ponytail, was. She was the pinnacle of modern magi, capable of confronting the Ancestor of Dead Apostles alone.
Kotomine Kirei shook his head, looking at Lorelei with annoyance. He truly couldn't fathom what reason would make Lorelei challenge Rin Tohsaka. After all, Lorelei was one of the three great noble families. Regardless of victory or defeat today, the reputation of Bartholomello, one of the three great noble families, bullying a country family would surely spread.
Kotomine Kirei certainly couldn't have imagined that it was his sister's words, "You absolutely cannot take any guests from the El-Melloi household today," that had ignited Lorelei's spoiled temper.
"Rin, Lorelei is the same age as you, and you are now the Jewel Old Man's disciple. Therefore, her invitation to duel is valid and fair."
"Then I have no choice but to fight her?"
Lorelei, seeing Tohsaka chatting idly, impatiently shouted at her.
"Are you done talking?! Rin Tohsaka, do you accept my duel invitation?"
Seeing that escape was impossible, Tohsaka took a few steps forward, picked up the handkerchief from the ground, and waved it at Lorelei.
"Bring it on!"
Seeing that the situation had escalated to this point, the onlookers could only clear a space for the two.
Silence. That's right, silence. Just as Rin Tohsaka was wary of Lorelei, Lorelei was not taking the genius who was the talk of the mage world lightly. The two faced off silently.
One minute, ten minutes... Rin Tohsaka stared intently at the beads of sweat on Lorelei's face caused by the sun. The moment a bead of sweat entered Lorelei's eyes, Rin Tohsaka made her move.
"Spear of Venus!"
A gem was tossed into the air and then shattered, its contained starlight converging into a beam that shot towards Lorelei.
"Celestial Magecraft? Hmph!"
Lorelei flicked her riding crop, creating a wall of wind that blocked the Spear of Venus.
Rin Tohsaka had not expected the Spear of Venus to affect Lorelei. Knowing that the young girl's magical abilities surpassed her own, Tohsaka opted for close combat. The Spear of Venus was merely a feint to close the distance to Lorelei.
"Oh, you intend to engage me in close combat? Come on!"
Facing Tohsaka, who had charged in front of her, Lorelei calmly activated Reinforcement Magecraft. With her riding crop, she easily blocked Tohsaka's punch, her feet moving in a butterfly step as she exchanged blows with Tohsaka's Baji Quan.
As Tohsaka and Lorelei engaged in close combat, the doors, walls, and ground were all shattered by their fierce struggle. At this point, the guests in the banquet hall noticed the duel and, as if by unspoken agreement, rushed towards the manor's entrance.
Fujino, pulling Sakura along, looked with a grim expression at the two rapidly colliding dots in the distance. She immediately recognized the red figure as her master, Rin Tohsaka.
Sakura activated her reinforcement magic and, with Fujino, hurried towards the entrance, looking worriedly at the two combatants in the distance.
"Sister, please be alright!"

Chapter 60: Clock Tower Journey - Duel Continues! - Bounded Field!
Rin slammed her shoulder into Lorelei's chest, but it had little effect against Lorelei, who had activated defensive magecraft. Rin only managed to push Lorelei back a few steps.
Panting heavily, Rin stared at Lorelei, who was still breathing steadily. Damn it, even though this guy isn't good at hand-to-hand combat, it's too difficult to deal with when combined with magecraft. Truly the pinnacle of modern magi. I need to change my strategy.
Rin attacked Lorelei again, secretly tossing a ruby onto the ground.
Lorelei watched Rin, who was silently pressing her lips together. A mocking smile played on Lorelei's lips as she fought, calmly taunting Rin.
"Still not giving up? You, who only use your fists, are a 'gorilla' and a magecraft genius?"
"Hah? You damn 'gorilla,' you're dead. Witch-King Slayer, kill her for me!"
During their recent exchange, Rin had forced Lorelei near the gem Rin had secretly dropped earlier.
ROAR!
A giant flame behemoth appeared roaring behind Lorelei at Rin's high-pitched cry, raising a massive flaming cross and smashing it down towards Lorelei.
Feeling the intense heat from behind, Lorelei turned without hesitation, drawing the riding crop she had tucked at her side.
A great gust of wind followed the swing of Lorelei's riding crop, converging into a wind bullet that collided with the Witch-King Slayer!
