The group passed through Golden Light Peak and Moonlight Mountain in the southeastern part of Northern Juluzhou, a rare pair of Daoist companion mountains.
Golden-backed Geese, spiritual birds, occasionally appeared at Golden Light Peak, though they were exceedingly difficult to track down. For cultivators to capture one was harder still. Meanwhile, on the nights of the full moon, the first and fifteenth of each month, an enormous snow-white frog as large as a mountain often appeared on Moonlight Mountain, leading a great host of descendants as they absorbed the essence of the moon. Thus, it was also nicknamed Thunder Mountain.
By the way the three of them traveled, they deliberately avoided Immortal Ferry Crossings and crossed mountains and rivers entirely on foot. Li Huai seemed wholly unhurried about reaching Lion Peak, while Pei Qian was likewise in no rush to return to Treasure Bottle Continent.
In Li Huai's private words, Pei Qian hoped that when she returned home, she would be able to see her master.
It was not that Li Huai did not want to hurry to the town below Lion Peak and see his parents sooner. But whenever he considered Pei Qian's circumstances, he let it go. He could not bear to urge her even one word more.
More than not bearing it, though, he did not dare. Pei Qian was not Li Baoping. The latter at least reasoned with people before beating them up. Li Huai knew that Pei Qian had hidden away many little account books, supposedly one for nearly every person, each in its own separate volume. Li Huai always felt that his own ledger was quite possibly the thickest one.
Wei Taizhen did not mind moving slowly, but no matter how accustomed she became to strange things, fresh oddities kept appearing one after another.
