The other side of the world.

The shadows hidden beyond sunlight's reach, the opposite of the plainly visible surface of the world—things ordinary people could never truly understand.

The other side of the world naturally referred to things beyond ordinary human comprehension, closely tied to the extraordinary, or even born from it.

Superheroes were one of its representative products.

Xi Nian had been reincarnated into this world for sixteen years. Though he had learned from elementary school history books about humanity's first superhero—Captain America—and his legendary journey, and had heard people around him mention the Dark Knight of Gotham City—Batman—who had watched over crime for more than a decade.

Though three years ago, the billionaire playboy who inherited Stark Industries had created the Iron Suit and become New York's technological king.

And a year and a half ago, the Kryptonian raised on Earth—Superman—had forcefully repelled the Kryptonian Warship from outer space, becoming a "god among men."

Even though news reports about superheroes flooded every outlet, with fresh gossip appearing every day.

Xi Nian had always felt that these extraordinary things from the other side of the world were very far away from him.

That distance was like his previous life. Having always lived in a peaceful superpower, he occasionally learned from the news that modern wars constantly broke out in small countries and regions on the other side of the Earth, but his understanding of them remained vague, unreal, and impossible to truly relate to.

The distance between ordinary humans and the other side of the world was far crueler than the class divide between slaves and nobles in ancient times.

After all, even with the saying, "The rich rely on technology, the poor rely on mutation," whether it was technology or mutation, crossing the threshold of normal understanding and attaining or possessing the extraordinary was an extremely rare possibility among humanity.

Xi Nian had given up on becoming extraordinary many years ago and had grown accustomed to his ordinary life.

Until tonight.

Xi Nian had first accidentally gained an indescribable extraordinary power from his aunt. Then, outside the city, he encountered Spider-Woman, who possessed Spider Abilities. And now, he was seeing a green monster battling an elite army.

Never before had he so genuinely glimpsed—or perhaps already stepped halfway into—the other side of this world.

"So many extraordinary things were hidden in the city where I've always lived?" Xi Nian smiled bitterly, feeling that his entire worldview had been overturned.

But then again, the most extraordinary one among them was his aunt, who had lived with him for over a decade. Compared to that, none of this seemed like such a big deal—yeah, right.

Xi Nian stared in shock at the fierce battle unfolding in the nearby city district. Reinforced concrete buildings collapsed and shattered one after another. Artillery fire spread across every inch of the streets. The frost and snow falling from the night sky evaporated before touching the ground, while shell casings and rubble replaced snowflakes, scattering all over the streets.

Yet the human army had been at an absolute disadvantage all along!

At the center of the city's battle.

Mounted on specially modified military vehicles, Gatling guns spat blazing tongues of fire from their scorching barrels. Dense bullets formed a torrent of steel, concentrating their fire deep within the flames and smoke. There stood a green humanoid monster three to four meters tall, its muscles like lumps of iron, hard and terrifying pale bones protruding from its body. Naked except for a pair of oversized shorts.

It seemed like the embodiment of terror and ultimate evil.

A single glance made one tremble from the depths of their heart, endless chills rising up their spine!

It also had a fitting name.

Abomination!!!

Facing the hail of bullets, Abomination bounced back and forth between buildings and ruins along the streets. Its agility and speed were utterly mismatched with its bloated body. As it moved at high speed, it displayed enough power to shake the ground and the surrounding city blocks!

It crushed the ground beneath its feet and smashed through walls!

Ignoring the bullets that could not even break its skin, Abomination leaped down with thunderous force onto a specially modified military vehicle, crushing the soldiers and vehicle together into flattened scrap metal. It casually grabbed an abandoned taxi from the road, raised it over its head like a sandbag, and hurled it twenty or thirty meters away, smashing it into another military vehicle packed with soldiers.

Modern cars were like children's toys at that moment!

Boom!!

A rocket propelled by flames shot toward Abomination at high speed. Abomination raised an arm in front of itself, and the explosion's fire instantly swallowed its body, while the shockwave shattered every window along both sides of the street!

But, but!

The next sight filled every surviving soldier on the battlefield with despair.

On the ground where the rocket had exploded, searing flames swept backward along its white bones and green muscles, revealing Abomination's hideous, terrifying, demon-like grin and completely unharmed body.

The battle that followed—no! It should have been called a one-sided slaughter—continued!

Xi Nian, watching from afar, frowned tightly.

The existence of that greenish-yellow monster gave him an overwhelming sense of danger!

Even though he could now fall from a building over ten stories high without being injured, if he faced that monster... he might die!

His extraordinary senses made Xi Nian's judgment exceptionally sharp. That monster was a dangerous existence capable of killing him as he was now!

"It's already late. I'll just pretend I didn't see anything and go home. Auntie will worry."

Xi Nian looked away, unwilling to continue watching the army being brutally slaughtered from afar.

He had never wanted to become a superhero. He merely admired superheroes' abilities.

As for "With great power comes great responsibility"?

If there had been no danger to his life, Xi Nian would have been more than willing to help. But this was a situation where he had to risk his life!

Having died once in his previous life, Xi Nian treasured his life immensely. In this life, the only person he was willing to give his life to protect was his aunt.

Gwen counted as the second.

Xi Nian had just made up his mind to leave when he caught sight of a figure passing through the gaps between the towering buildings across from him. Swinging on webbing, she headed toward the city district two kilometers away that had become a battlefield.

It was Spider-Woman, whom he had met on the rooftop earlier.

"That idiot, don't go over there!" Xi Nian's heart skipped a beat. From their brief exchange earlier, he knew perfectly well that Spider-Woman was no match for Abomination!

The gap in their strength was simply too vast!

There was only one likely outcome if Spider-Woman went to fight him—death!

But it was already too late to stop her.

Xi Nian could only watch helplessly as Spider-Woman's slender, petite figure disappeared deep into that city district, where the sounds of gunfire and artillery were steadily fading.

"I'm sorry. I only have one life, and at most, I can use it for those two people!"

Xi Nian gritted his teeth. He simply stopped looking, turned around, and leaped away in the direction opposite the city battlefield!
