Ortluk might be stubborn and refuse to admit that his team members were inadequate.
But since the steward had said so, it naturally could not be wrong.
For Town Hall to praise a Necromancer, it seemed Wu Heng had truly played a major role in this mission.
Noticing that something was off with them, the steward asked, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. Congratulations, Captain Ortluk, on recruiting such a capable member," Team Three's captain said.
"Thank you," Ortluk replied.
The steward continued, "This matter has implicated the Wolf Head Mercenary Group. Aside from the Fourth Squad, all other squads should make preparations to assist Blackstone Town in apprehending the Wolf Head Mercenary Group."
"Yes!" everyone answered, then left the Meeting Hall.
Meanwhile, Wu Heng led the skeletons to the East District.
Stalls lined both sides of the Main Road leading to the East City Gate.
Together, they formed a marketplace full of local character.
The Mercenary Group's spoils, goods from villages, and even some shops would all bring out their wares to sell during this time.
Those with the means set up stalls, while those without simply spread out a piece of Linen Cloth or leather and called it a stall.
Wu Heng had arrived late. He found a spot near the edge, spread out a cloth, and took out all the items one by one.
They were mainly looted glass cups.
He arranged them across the stall one by one.
Then he stood up and shouted, "Come take a look! The heartless boss ran off with his sister-in-law! Glass cups that used to cost one or two hundred are now all fifty copper coins! First come, first served—once they're gone, the stall's closing!"
Those who heard the call cast puzzled looks his way.
Only after hearing it again did they catch the part about the boss running away with his sister-in-law.
They also could not understand what kind of goods had anything to do with a boss's sister-in-law.
So they moved closer to see what exactly he was selling.
Very quickly, his shouting drew a crowd that surrounded the stall several layers deep.
"They're all fifty copper coins?"
"All fifty. Pick whichever you like. They're convenient for drinking water and look nice at home too."
"Did the boss really run off with his sister-in-law? He didn't take anyone else?"
"That's not important. If you don't buy one now, you'll only get the leftovers."
"These look like they've been used."
"They only got dirty from everyone touching them. Just wash them when you get home."
"I'll take one."
"I'll take three. I want to drink water from glass cups too."
Once someone took the lead, those behind them also began pulling out money to buy.
At that price, they were definitely cheaper than the glass cups in shops, and their patterns and designs were prettier than ordinary cylindrical cups.
They were absolutely good value for money here.
He had not set that price because he truly wanted to make much money.
They were all looted goods, and it would be a pity to throw them away. The people who came here to shop were ordinary residents or villagers from remote villages.
Since they would just sit around otherwise, he might as well sell them cheaply to everyone. They could all make use of them.
Amid Wu Heng's various cries, this became the busiest stall in the area.
More and more people gathered around. Not knowing what was happening, they came over to watch the excitement.
Wu Heng kept collecting money, and before long, all the glass cups on the stall had sold out.
Quite a few people failed to get one and slapped their thighs in frustration.
The people at the other stalls were dumbfounded.
What was going on?
He was closing up already?
He had only just sat down, and everything was sold out.
"They're gone, sorry." Wu Heng rolled up the stall cloth and put everything away. He continued, "Another batch will arrive in a few days. Same place, same price. If you need any, come by again then. They're convenient for yourself and your family."
After packing up, Wu Heng was about to leave with the skeletons when several people gathered around him again.
They were vendors from nearby stalls.
"Sir, if you don't have the time, you can sell the goods directly to me. I'll still pay this price, and it'll save you the trouble of coming here," one of them said.
"Sell them to me. I can offer a higher price."
"I have a physical shop. As long as your supply is steady, I can sell them for you..."
Wu Heng understood their intentions. They wanted to resell the goods.
This would not cause him any losses, and it would even save him time.
But after thinking it over carefully, he decided against it. He did not know when he would next come to sell goods, and it would be difficult to explain constantly producing merchandise out of thin air.
There was no factory behind him. Everything had been brought over from another world.
If someone truly investigated, there would be problems.
He directly refused. "Sorry, everyone. I can't say whether I'll have any goods next time, so there's no way we can work together."
When they heard there would be no more goods, they did not continue pestering him. After merely telling him to sell to them if he got any stock, they each returned to their own stalls.
Wu Heng got up and began browsing along the stalls.
But before he had taken more than two steps, cries of "The boss ran off with his sister-in-law, so I'm selling these goods to settle the debt!" rang out one after another behind him.
The shouting vendors all froze at the same time, then glared angrily at one another.
Wu Heng glanced back, then continued walking forward.
This place was far livelier than the night markets of the Modern World. Not only were the goods strange and varied, he saw several groups of real people fighting not far along the way.
Still, they showed some restraint. No one drew a sword; they merely greeted each other's faces with their fists.
After making a round, he stopped in front of a stall.
The stall owner was a middle-aged man in leather armor. Herbs, beast horns, and five spears were laid out before him.
The spearheads were metal, while the shafts were hardwood.
They were probably used by nearby villages to drive away wild beasts.
Adventurers would not use weapons with wooden shafts in battle, since they could easily be chopped in half.
They were more useful against beasts instead.
"How much are the spears?" Wu Heng asked.
The stall owner looked up at him and casually said, "Two Silver Coins each. Barter is also fine."
"I'll take all of them. Can you lower the price?"
"All of them? What do you need so many for?" The stall owner looked up at him.
"Are you giving me a discount or not?"
"Ten Silver Coins for all of them. I'll charge you nine," the stall owner continued.
Wu Heng directly took out the money and bought all five spears.
Seeing how generous he was, the stall owner continued, "If there's anything else you like, I can give you a discount if you take it all."
"Maybe next time."
He picked up the spears he had bought and, together with Skeleton Rogue Bartholomew, carried them back toward his residence.
After settling dinner, he had Skeleton Rogue Bartholomew carry the spears he had bought and headed to the Zombie World.
The familiar stench of rot hit him head-on, yet it gave him a sense of security, as though he had returned to normal life.
The human world was far too complicated.
During the Mining Village mission, the Mine Owner had actually been the mastermind behind it all and had nearly gotten the entire Investigation Team killed.
The human heart was truly the hardest thing to predict.
There was no need to worry about such things in the Zombie World.
When he reached the rooftop, Skeleton Warriors stood rigidly all over it. Only Skeleton Dog Teddy kept running back and forth, without the slightest trace of undead composure.
"Bring those corpses over," Wu Heng ordered.
The Skeleton Warriors before him moved, dragging the distant corpses over and tossing them at his feet.
There were four corpses in total. They belonged to the people who had attacked him in Mining Village yesterday, and he had chosen several to bring back.
Aside from the corpses, there were also four Iron Swords, two hand crossbows, and some Crossbow Bolts.
Those alone were worth quite a few Silver Coins.
He stripped the armor and clothes from the men, revealing patterns resembling wolf heads on their bodies.
They were probably mercenaries or gang members.
Only such organizations often tattooed their members with these uniform marks.
It was probably like naming a guild in a game—helpful for unity and identifying one's own people, while also looking imposing.
He only gave them a glance and did not inspect them closely.
They had nothing to do with him. Even if they belonged to some major gang, they could go settle accounts with Blackstone Town's Guard Squad.
He directly cast Bone Manipulation Technique.
Flesh and blood fell away, and four skeletons rose to their feet.
They were two Skeleton Swordsmen and two Skeleton Crossbowmen.
One Skeleton Swordsman was level six and the other was level five, while both crossbowmen were level five.
He specifically checked the crossbowmen's attributes.
Skeleton Crossbowman Level: 5 (0/3000) Attributes: Constitution 12, Strength 14, Agility 14, Intelligence 9, Perception 8, Charisma 5. Traits: Hollow Skeleton, Basic Soul. Specialties: Hunter's Aim, Coordinated Attack. Abilities: One-Handed Sword Mastery (Basic), Hand Crossbow Mastery (Intermediate), Light Armor Mastery (Intermediate), Lockpicking (Basic), Disarm Trap (Basic). Hunter's Aim: Focuses on aiming, making attacks exceptionally precise. Coordinated Attack: Possesses extensive experience in teamwork and can better coordinate attacks with teammates/allies.
All four skeletons possessed Basic Souls, with ghostly blue flames flickering in their hollow eye sockets.
The crossbowmen's attributes focused mainly on Hand Crossbow Mastery and proficiency.
He could now be considered to have Ranged Units.
The swordsmen's attributes did not have anything particularly special.
Specialty: Precise Swordsmanship. Abilities: Greatsword Mastery (Intermediate), Light Armor Mastery (Intermediate), Medium Armor Mastery (Intermediate).
They were not bad either.
Wu Heng looked at the four skeletons and said to the level-six Skeleton Swordsman, "You'll be called Sword One from now on."
Then he pointed at the nearby swordsman and crossbowmen in turn. "You're Sword Two, you're Crossbow One, and you're Crossbow Two."
The four skeletons nodded their skulls.
With that, he now had six Skeletons with Souls.
Skeleton Dog Teddy, Skeleton Rogue Bartholomew, Sword One, Sword Two, Crossbow One, and Crossbow Two.
"Go put your armor back on first, and equip your weapons," Wu Heng ordered.
The four skeletons walked to the side and began putting on the equipment that had been stripped from them.
