Little Purple lay on the ground, her feelings a tangled mess. However, Xiao Shuang and Yaoye were having far too much fun beside her, diluting much of the sorrow around her.
By evening, Xiao Shuang had sorted through the Demonic Beasts he had caught and tossed them over to Little Purple.
Then, he cleaned the fish, skewered them on iron rods, and set them over the campfire.
When the heat seemed about right, Yaoye picked up the seasonings nearby and sprinkled them over the fish. Though the grilled fish did not look particularly appetizing, it should taste decent, right?
The two stared at the slightly charred grilled fish before them, exchanged a glance, and both fell into deep thought.
Then, they began politely yielding to each other.
"You eat first."
"You caught more fish, so you eat first."
In the end, Xiao Shuang looked at the grilled fish in his hand, expressionlessly took a bite, and slowly chewed.
"Is it good?" Yaoye's eyes blinked expectantly.
"Not bad. It's a little burnt, but the taste is acceptable." Without changing expression, Xiao Shuang handed her the grilled fish.
"Could the seasoning be the problem? That shouldn't be it." Yaoye took the fish suspiciously. By her instincts, this fish should not taste good.
Tearing off a small piece of fish, Yaoye glanced at Xiao Shuang again, then closed her eyes and bit down.
"Pfft, pfft, pfft! Why is it bitter?!"
After chewing only a few times, Yaoye's expression changed. She immediately spat out the fish, grabbed some water, and began rinsing her mouth.
Handing the water to Xiao Shuang, Yaoye puffed out her cheeks and asked, "What was with that grilled fish just now? Don't tell me something's wrong with my sense of taste?"
"No, your sense of taste is perfectly normal. That
