After Qian Bing woke up, he first checked his physical condition. Only after confirming that the injuries he had suffered in Douluo Continent had not affected his body in the Pokémon World did he finally breathe a sigh of relief.
He then summoned his Spirit Ball Spirit and found that the image of Pidgeotto on it was still dim, not yet fully restored.
When he confirmed that he still could not summon Pidgeotto, he sighed and muttered to himself:
"Looks like the Spirit Ball Spirit has even greater restrictions. The adverse effects after using soul skills carry over between both worlds."
Since Qian Bing's strongest fighting force could not be used, he naturally had no plans to go wandering around after returning to the Pokémon World this time.
He simply decided to lie flat on the bed and treat it as a vacation.
But just as he lay down, he remembered that he still had not used the privilege he had earned from completing an Adventure Mission last time: the right to enter the Pokémon Care Center's A-Rank Warehouse and choose one A-Rank Spirit Egg.
His spirits immediately lifted, and he sprang out of bed again.
According to Joy, the upper limit of an A-Rank Spirit Egg was Champion Grade!
Although ever since the Pokémon Care Center had opened access to the A-Rank Warehouse, fewer than five lucky people had selected a Champion-quality Pokemon egg from it.
Qian Bing was very confident, though. As long as there was a Champion-quality Pokemon in the warehouse, he would be able to find it.
After all, he had such a useful cheat as the Spirit Illustrated Handbook Spirit, which could directly see through the quality of Pokemon and Spirit Eggs!
Thinking of this, Qian Bing had even less desire to remain in the hotel. He slung his Storage Backpack over his shoulder and headed straight out.
Ten minutes later, he appeared at the Pokémon Care Center in Viridian City.
The receptionist at the Pokémon Care Center today was still Naxi, dressed in a pink skirt. The moment she saw Qian Bing enter, she greeted him with a bright smile:
"Little Trainer Bing, it's a pleasure to see you again. Is there anything I can help you with?"
"Hello, Miss Naxi. I completed an Adventure Mission before and received the privilege to enter your A-Rank Warehouse and choose one A-Rank Spirit Egg.
"I came today to use that privilege."
As he spoke, Qian Bing took the Spirit Illustrated Handbook out of his backpack and handed it to her.
Naxi nodded, took the Spirit Illustrated Handbook, and placed it on the scanner beside the counter.
The networks of all official Pokémon Alliance institutions were interconnected. As long as a Spirit Illustrated Handbook was read using specialized equipment, nearly all of a trainer's information could be accessed.
Before long, Qian Bing's relevant information and all the privileges he had obtained appeared on the computer.
When Naxi saw that it indeed included one chance to enter the Pokémon Care Center's A-Rank Warehouse, she gave Qian Bing a sweet smile.
"I've checked it. You can indeed enter the A-Rank Warehouse and choose one Spirit Egg. Would you like to use it now? If you're sure, I'll need to cancel this privilege first."
"I'm sure."
"Alright."
Naxi clicked the mouse, and Qian Bing's privilege turned gray, its status changed to used.
Only then did Naxi step out from behind the counter. She raised a hand in invitation and led Qian Bing toward the back hall.
"Little Trainer Bing, please follow me. I'll take you to the A-Rank Warehouse to choose a Spirit Egg."
Hearing that, Qian Bing immediately followed Naxi into the back hall of the Pokémon Care Center.
He was actually not unfamiliar with the Pokémon Care Center. He knew that while the spacious front hall covered quite a large area, it did not contain any functional sections.
Other than the reception counter, there were only a few rows of seats for customers to rest and wait.
The back hall of the Pokémon Center was different. Eight or nine rooms of varying sizes and functions were arranged in a row from left to right.
Each door was guarded by dedicated personnel, and no one was allowed to enter casually.
With a casual glance, Qian Bing spotted the Nursery he had visited last time to pick up the newly hatched Pidgey. It was located at the far left of the Pokémon Care Center's back hall.
His destination, meanwhile, seemed to occupy the central position of the back hall. Above its door hung a large plaque bearing the letter "A." Qian Bing did not need to think to know that it was the A-Rank Warehouse.
As expected, Naxi led him to the door of that room.
The person guarding the A-Rank Warehouse was a young woman wearing a white shirt on top and orange hot pants below.
Her long, snow-white legs were straight and fair, nearly making Qian Bing feel like he had fallen "in love" again.
Naxi walked straight up to her and said:
"Chengzi, this is Little Trainer Bing. I've already verified his privilege. He can choose one A-Rank Spirit Egg. Please take him inside for a look."
The young woman called Chengzi put on a polite fake smile, nodded at Naxi, then opened the large door behind her and invited Qian Bing inside.
Only after Qian Bing personally entered the A-Rank Warehouse did he understand the shock of seeing a "mountain of eggs."
The room was far larger than he had expected. For a moment, he could not judge its exact size, but he could tell that it was definitely more than a thousand square meters.
Countless shelves were arranged neatly across the enormous space. Each shelf had five tiers, and when fully stocked, each tier could hold twenty Spirit Eggs.
On the outer panel of every shelf facing the entrance was a label indicating a different attribute category, likely marked that way to make searching easier.
With one casual look, Qian Bing knew that there were not merely hundreds or thousands of Spirit Eggs before him.
Picking out the one Champion egg, with odds of at most one in the hundreds of thousands, from such an enormous number was hardly any easier than winning the lottery jackpot.
No wonder so few people had selected one over the years.
The Pokémon Care Center really was the heartless business guild he had always imagined!
Faced with the massive workload that was about to descend upon him, even Qian Bing, despite having the Spirit Illustrated Handbook Spirit to rely on, could not help feeling weak in the knees.
Fortunately, Chengzi did not immediately lead him around at random. Instead, she asked professionally:
"Little Trainer Bing, is there a Pokemon you have your eye on, or a particular attribute you prefer?
"As you can see, there are a lot of Spirit Eggs in our warehouse. If you were to inspect them one by one, you probably wouldn't finish even in several days.
"And when choosing a Spirit Egg, you can stay in the warehouse for at most two hours. Many people wander around aimlessly, and in the end, they can only grab one at random at the last moment.
"If you have a more specific target, I can first take you to look through the relevant Spirit Eggs. If you don't find anything suitable, it won't be too late to look at the others.
"That would greatly improve our efficiency."
As expected of someone whose job was guarding the A-Rank Warehouse, Chengzi's suggestion was both professional and practical.
Qian Bing's eyes lit up. Without another word, he showed his agreement and directly told her some of the thoughts he had in mind.
"Thank you for the suggestion. Let's choose according to what you said.
"My first choice for my next Pokemon is Charmander, one of the starter Pokemon. Fierce and powerful—it suits my image perfectly.
"Second, it could be a Pokemon skilled at ground combat, to make up for the weaknesses in my current team. We could look at Pokemon with Fighting-type and Ground-type moves.
"Snorlax seems pretty good too, but I might not be able to afford to raise one.
"I don't like Geodude or Rhyhorn. They're usually quite useful, but their weaknesses are too obvious. If they run into Water-types or Grass-types, they're practically dead.
"Poliwrath, Nidoqueen, and the like won't do either if they can't evolve directly.
"What else is there?
"Ah, I can't think of anything else right now. It's giving me a headache. Miss Chengzi, do you have any other suggestions?"
