The man followed Muzan into the pitch-black house and sat awkwardly to one side. Muzan looked at his daughter.
She neither cried nor fussed, sitting obediently beside her father.
Muzan looked at the man again. "Go into the inner room first."
The man could not help looking at his daughter. Muzan reassured him, "Don't worry. It'll only take a few minutes. She'll join you soon."
The man nodded and walked into the inner room, looking back with every step.
Muzan looked at the somewhat bewildered little girl. "Did you really help your father trick people into being eaten?"
To his surprise, the child looked furious upon hearing that. "Don't slander the god!"
Muzan: "..."
That brainwashing was fucking thorough.
"Have you ever offered sacrifices to your god?"
To be honest, Muzan simply could not bear it. He wanted to give the child a chance.
"Of course!"
Seeing how proud she looked, Muzan sighed. "Don't you think the people who were eaten were innocent?"
Though it was not exactly appropriate coming from him...
She said angrily, "They weren't eaten! They went to heaven!"
Muzan: "..."
"Then why don't you go to heaven yourself?"
Little girl: "..."
Can I say I don't want to?
Muzan sighed and stood up. He had already given her a chance. Besides, he was no saint, and he could not be bothered to straighten out someone with such twisted thinking.
To be honest, children were not necessarily pure and kind either. Just think about whether you were pure and kind as a child, and you would know.
Muzan looked at the little girl. "Let's go."
More than ten days passed. Muzan felt as though he was being fed an endless stream of food every day. What surprised him even more was that not a single one of them was innocent...
This was completely absurd!
These people were more "competent" at being human than demons were.
But as the town was nearly devoid of living people, the Demon Slayer Corps noticed as well.
The moment Muzan sensed the Demon Slayer Corps had arrived, he packed up the book he had not finished reading and immediately ran.
Fighting was out of the question. He did not particularly want to eat Demon Slayer Corps members, and there was no point in fighting.
Before leaving, he even made sure to bring along the little girl who had helped him for so many days.
The little girl had just learned that the Demon Slayer Corps had arrived and was preparing to welcome a better tomorrow when Muzan flashed over, grabbed her in his hand, and fled with her.
Her face went deathly pale. Would she never escape those two evil demons for the rest of her life?
What terrible sin had she committed?
Why had she lied to those two in the first place?
The two demons and one human finally arrived in a dense forest.
They did not know when they would find another place sheltered from the sunlight, so they decided to spend the night in the forest first.
The little girl was roughly thrown to the ground. She curled up against a tree, too afraid to speak.
She feared being eaten as rations, but following those two evil demons, she felt that even if she was not eaten, she would starve to death.
If you enjoy this book and don't want to lose track of it next time, please remember to add it to your bookshelf.
Muzan took out a book and leaned against a tree. Jikou was also reading while keeping an eye on the little girl.
According to his master, she was indeed rations.
What Jikou did not understand was why the Demon King was being so accommodating toward the Demon Slayer Corps, which posed no threat to him whatsoever.
But he did not dare ask.
Because the forest's branches and leaves were so dense that almost no light filtered through, the day passed quickly. Muzan looked at the little girl with the look of someone considering whether to eat.
The little girl shrank back in terror. "My lord! Even if I have no merit, I've still worked hard! Please spare me!"
Muzan grabbed her and lifted her up, ignoring her pleas. He had never intended to let her live.
But before he could act, an arrow suddenly shot out from the forest. Jikou's strength had long since increased considerably. He instantly rushed over, caught the incoming arrow, and cautiously looked around.
Immediately afterward, several more arrows flew in from all directions.
Jikou could not stop so many arrows at once, and Muzan did not want to be hit and have his clothes torn. He tossed the rations in his hand aside and instantly caught every arrow that came at him.
But right after that, almost the instant he released the little girl, a Nichirin Blade slashed horizontally toward him.
Its target was his neck!
Muzan was incredibly fast. He stepped back and twisted aside, evading the swinging blade.
At the same time, he finally saw a slash that came with its own special effects. Although Breathing Styles did not yet exist, the opponent appeared to be a sufficiently powerful swordsman. Light reflected off the blade, and its slash left an afterimage like a visual effect.
Taking advantage of the momentum, Muzan grabbed the blade of the Nichirin Blade. Its sharp edge failed to even cut his skin.
Muzan yanked hard, and the attacker nearly lost his footing. His body tilted slightly, and he hurriedly released the Nichirin Blade to avoid falling.
But during the few seconds he had been delayed, the little girl had already been rescued.
The Demon Slayer Corps member who had lost his Nichirin Blade hurriedly retreated. Knowing that he was no match for this evil demon, he called for his teammates to take the rescued little girl and run.
Being carried away as they fled, the little girl finally breathed a sigh of relief.
She had finally escaped those two evil demons!
But before she could celebrate, a figure instantly caught up with the fleeing Demon Slayer Corps members and snatched her away.
Jikou held his employer's rations in his hand. To prevent any more accidents, he did not even look at her pleading eyes. Without hesitation, he grabbed her neck and crushed it with a squeeze.
The Demon Slayer Corps members were instantly enraged. That evil demon had killed someone so brazenly right in front of them!
Damn demon!
The Demon Slayer Corps members all swung their swords and charged in, their fury concealing their grief as they roared and attacked.
But they were no more than ordinary humans. Jikou's current strength had reached at least the Lower Rank level, and he sent them flying one kick at a time.
But because of Muzan's orders, he did not strike too heavily. He merely left them temporarily unable to fight.
Looking at the Demon Slayer Corps members sprawled across the ground, roaring that they wanted to kill him yet powerless to do so, Muzan stood to the side and looked at Jikou. "Let's go."
Jikou nodded and followed Muzan.
The moment they left the Demon Slayer Corps' sight, Jikou saw one of Muzan's hands transform into a hideous monster. Its enormous mouth opened wide, filled with sharp teeth, and it swallowed the corpse in Jikou's hand in one bite. The sound of chewing was somewhat terrifying.
His hand returned to normal, and he looked at Jikou.
Jikou shuddered in fright. "M-My lord..."
"My lord, my ass. Hurry up and get moving."
According to Muzan's memories of the original story, Tamayo should have been the first of the major demons he turned into a demon.
He wondered whether he could encounter Tamayo.
She was a highly skilled physician and the best support character in the original story. It would be best to recruit her if possible.
Tsugikuni Yoriichi and the like probably would not appear for another hundred years. He could slowly improve his strength.
He did not seek to surpass the ceiling. He only wanted to outlive him!
He also did not know when Nakime would appear. Without Infinity Castle, things were truly too inconvenient!
