After more than twenty thousand years of voyaging, more than twenty thousand years of running, it was time to stop and let some of the scientific gains made along the way settle.
Although the fleet could carry out technological research during the voyage, and even turn research results into practical applications, technical applications related to warships—such as fleet maintenance, warship equipment upgrades, and warship engine refits—still required the entire fleet to stop.
Technologies that could be installed while the fleet was in motion were generally relatively small-scale applications, such as modifications aimed at individual lifeforms, lifespan technologies, and the like.
All of those could be carried out aboard spacecraft.
And the spacecraft of a Cosmic Civilization were enormous. Although from the outside they looked only five or six kilometers long, their interiors were composed of folded spaces several kilometers across one after another. There was truly a whole world inside.
In cultivation terms, it was a small world unto itself.
On top of that, because they were traveling at warp speed, the space the warships occupied was stationary relative to the warships. So daily life and even research aboard the warships were, in fact, no different from life on Earth—provided the warships or spacecraft activated Gravity Environment simulation.
Of course, not every warship or spacecraft would activate a Gravity Generator.
For example, if certain experimental research required a zero-gravity environment, then the spacecraft housing that laboratory would not activate a Gravity Generator.
From this point, it could be seen that even if humanity gathered everyone aboard the Dream Lyra, they still would not have only one spacecraft, because they still needed various functional spacecraft for scientific research, production, and so on.
Of course, if they encountered a civilizational decision like that of the Divine Matrix Civilization, humanity could also manage
