The Great Evolution Civilization believed it was a property akin to an intrinsic attribute, or rather, one of the universe's most fundamental mechanisms. It could be called the universe's imprint.

The Great Evolution Civilization called this internal frequency "Existence Frequency."
Then, since every universe had its own unique internal frequency, the things within each universe would also have their own "Existence Frequency." Therefore, if they wanted to cross universes, to reach other universes, the method the Great Evolution Civilization had now thought of was to change their own "Existence Frequency."
They would alter their original "Existence Frequency," which matched this universe, and change it to match the "Existence Frequency" of the universe they wanted to go to. In this way, they could achieve universe traversal.
Within the Great Evolution Civilization's theoretical framework, this kind of traversal did not involve tearing open a rift in the Void and jumping into it. Rather, the moment they completed the change to their own "Existence Frequency," the traversal was completed as well.
