The use of Negative Energy gave Level 5 Civilizations vastly greater range. Under normal circumstances, their fully fueled range exceeded that of Level 4 Civilizations by more than tenfold—a qualitative leap. Of course, it also depended on the ratio between a ship's weight load and fuel capacity.
Although humanity and the Daya Civilization had not refueled during their journey here, they had not consumed much fuel. Given humanity's current situation, traveling another two or three thousand light-years would not be a problem.
